DIRECTOR ’S NOTES

Hello, and welcome to Tosa East Players’ production of The World Goes ’Round! Thank you for joining us for our first performance in the newly renovated Dale K. Hidde Theatre! I am excited to share this beautiful new space with our students and audiences alike. So. Why did I pick The World Goes ’Round for our first show in the new theatre space? Well, it’s quite simple, actually. This show is a thrilling compilation of Kander and Ebb’s best songs that celebrate life, love, coffee, and the fighting spirit that keeps us all going. For after all, no matter what challenge comes our way, The World always Goes ’Round, and Maybe This Time, we’ll win. There couldn’t be a better message for our students, staff, and audience. In and out of our building, we all struggle with life’s unrelenting challenges. From personal loss, heartbreak, and disappointments to show-specific challenges, including not having a theatre to rehearse or work in until November 14 (just two short rehearsal weeks before opening), this company has experienced many diverse challenges. This entire company--from cast to crew to pit to parent volunteers to directorial staff--has demonstrated incredible tenacity, patience, compassion, and a beautiful connection to Kander and Ebb’s timeless lyrics. These remarkable students and staff have tapped into the heart and deeper truths in these catchy tunes and are presenting soulful work that will absolutely stir you to your core. Amanda Marquardt, our incredible choreographer, has created beautiful dance pieces that are simultaneously heartbreaking and hopeful. As always, a huge thank you goes out to our enormous volunteer network for their tireless support, and to the entire Players company for their dedication, talent, and passion for this program. It is my true honor to share these students’ performances with you tonight. Now please sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Sarah Elliott, Crew Sarah Elliott is participating in her third show here at Wauwatosa East. First starting off as a child wrangler for both

Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast, she has moved on to become assistant production manager for the fall and spring productions. In her non-existent free time, Sarah enjoys extreme ironing and collecting in-flight sick bags. She also enjoys spending time with her cat, although the feelings are not reciprocated by the cat.

Sally Fahr, Cast Theatre has always been an instrumental part of Sally’s life. Recently, Sally has been seen on stage in Sweeney Todd, Beauty

and the Beast, Shakespeare on Love, and many other theatrical productions. Outside of theatre, Sally enjoys studying the flute, volunteering at the Humane Society, and binge-watching Netflix. Sally would like to thank all of her directors, performance instructors, and family members for their constant support over the years!

Marion Frank, Cast Willkommen! Marion is joyfully blessed to be involved in her third show at Tosa East, and she is fanatically ecstatic to portray

Emcee. Some of her favorite productions she’s been in include Maul of the Dead, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Mole Hill Stories. She would like to thank her cast mates and crew members for this wonderful show. Enjoy!

Jae Franklin, Crew Jae Franklin is the single most attractive human ever to grace this theatre with her presence. Many suspect to this day that her

quick climb up the leadership ladder in theatre is because of this. Indeed, she has risen to the top: From make-up crew to stage manager, Jae has truly done it all. Outside theatre, Jae spends the majority of her time managing the Mr. Marion Moseby Appreciation Club as this year’s vice president.

Izzy Gallagher, Pit Izzy was thrilled to be asked to play in pit this year - then realized how much Julie Johnson was giving her to play on piano, and

AAAGH! (breath).. she is even more thrilled to be able to play piano and keyboards for The World Goes ‘Round. Izzy hopes you enjoy the show and that you are singing at least one song on the way out.

Abby Gifford, Crew Abby is thrilled to join the Tosa East Players for The World Goes ‘Round. She thanks her family and friends for their support.

Sam Hantzsch, Cast Sam is excited to be participating and performing in his seventh show with the Tosa East Players. He began his theatre

journey his freshman year as the pit drummer for Godspell and now has been taken by the stage. Sam would like to

thank his family for all of their support and would like to dedicate this show to his grandma.

Jenny Heck, Crew Contrary to popular belief, Jenny Heck is not related to Angelina Jolie.

Peter Iding, Pit This is Peter and he has been playing the clarinet for eight years. He is honored to say this is his third show in the Tosa East Pit. Pit has

been an extreme pleasure, and he loves being able to play such an important part in this show along with the entire pit.

Nick Jemison, Cast Nick is excited to be in one of his last shows here at Tosa East. Nick has most recently been in Tarzan (gorilla), Shakespeare on Love,

and Beauty and the Beast (male villager and Pepper). He would like to inform everyone that we orbit the sun and not the other way around.

Joshua Jirik, Cast / Crew Does this have to be in third person? Oh well, Josh started as a techie in the middle of his sophomore year. This is

his first big performance as an actor, but he still insists on being a part of crew. His only regret in all of this is not starting freshman year.

Adlai Kim, Crew Adlai is sad to say that only one person is wearing a wig in this show.

Molly Lampone, Pit Molly is thrilled to join the Tosa East Players for The World Goes ‘Round. She thanks her family and friends for their support.

Rylan McNally, Crew Starting off a fourth year in Tosa East Players, Rylan can safely say that this theatre is like another home. Spending time here,

leading sound crew and helping with construction, lighting, and fly crews, as well as working alongside the magnificent cast, has made for many memorable moments at Tosa East. Hopefully there will be many more in this, Rylan’s final year as an official member of the Tosa East Players.

Nick Morales, Pit Nick is thrilled to join the Tosa East Players for The World Goes ‘Round. He thanks his family and friends for their support.

Jake Muenzenberger, Crew Jake is thrilled to join the Tosa East Players for The World Goes ‘Round. He thanks his family and friends for their

support.

Emma Murphy, Crew Emma Murphy is participating in her third show at Wauwatosa East High School. She typically plays cello for the pit

orchestra, but has taken a sabbatical for the fall musical and is on the costumes crew. In her free time, Emma Murphy makes special appearances in the background, on the hit TV show “Naked and Afraid as Tree #2.”

Hey Emma,

Is your picture up at Sardi’s?

Maybe someday soon…

Break a leg,

Dan Palec, Crew Dan Palec started from the bottom, and now he is here. Dan was not involved in The Spitfire Grill and Hairspray, as he was not in high

school yet. He is known by many as being real, fresh, and having two hands. Dan can be found organizing the $5 DVD bin at Walmart on Tuesday nights. He committed to play for the varsity golf team at Trump University next year. Dan is male. Snapchat: @therealdanpalec

Laura Peck, Crew Laura has been involved in every facet of theatre: cast, crew, directorial staff, and of course, the ghosts. To be clear, Laura is not a

ghost. She is merely the bridge between the human world and the underworld. As a result, Laura often walks around the theatre screaming things like, “Ah, I am dead!” and “PLEASE stop walking through me!” Additionally, Laura is secretary for the Mr. Marion Moseby Appreciation Club.

Livia Quinn, Cast/Crew Livia Quinn is thrilled to be in her fifth show on the main stage with Tosa East Players. Livia is currently living life by

struggling through AP Art Studio, playing cello, wondering “why” at most points in time, and eating mass amounts of sugar. Although she will never do Chicago or Cabaret in high school, as she once dreamed, Livia is excited to be no one’s wife and love her life.

Riley Rakowiecki, Cast We see Riley walking around the theatre sometimes, but we’re not really sure if he’s actually part of the program. He once did

this really weird cosplay as a Rolex wristwatch, but again this cannot be confirmed. As he shambles around in the rafters of the theatre he’ll often mumble about Charles V of Spain, Burgundy, Austria, the great Holy Roman Empire, and the restoration of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Weird guy.

Katey Rettler, Crew Katey is super-happy to take part in The World Goes ’Round. She joined theatre freshman year for the costumes in Thoroughly Modern

Millie, did marketing for Shakespeare on Love and costumes for Beauty and the Beast, and now is proud to be costumes head for The World Goes ’Round.

Ellen Robison, Crew Ellen gets inspiration from the band “Boyz N Motion” from the television show “That’s So Raven.” One of their songs, “We are the Boyz

in Motion,” mentions how they give their devotion to what they love. Ellen gives her devotion to managing the production here at Tosa East. Ellen also gives devotion to Mr. Moseby; in fact, she is the president of the Mr. Moseby Appreciation Club. She’s honored to be in both groups.

Kaya Rhoads, Crew This is Kaya’s first time joining crew. Last year, she was singing her heart out in Beauty and the Beast with the vocal core and is beyond

grateful to be joining theatre for the second year in a row. Outside of the theatre, she loves spending time with friends and family, playing video games, dancing, and talking with her boyfriend. Kaya also enjoys playing the violin in orchestra. Even though she has autism, it won’t stop her from doing the things that she loves, and she hopes to inspire others with and without special needs to do the same.

Oliver Scott, Cast Oliver Scott is thrilled to be in his first show with Tosa East Players. After moving from Boston, Oliver never thought he would end

up in the quiet village of Wauwatosa, where every day like the one before. Oliver is now enjoying life by taking artsy photos, working at an obscure literature shop, and engaging in meta conversations with girls in his study halls. Next year, Oliver is looking forward to putting his faith in what he most believes in - himself.

Mairyn Schoshinski, Crew / Pit This is Mairyn’s seventh show with the Tosa East Players. She started on spot one for Godspell, but found her true

home by the fly rail. She has done fly since her second show, but this year she decided not to do fly for The Word Goes ’Round. Instead she has decided to be a part of the pit.

Jacqueline Turner, Crew Jackie Turner is participating in her sixth show as apart of the Wauwatosa East Theatre. She is a

member of the costumes crew leadership team and enjoys spending time with her crew. She also enjoys watching Netflix with her five cats and eating Totino’s pizza rolls and Tyson chicken nuggets. Her favorite color is green and her favorite star on the American flag is the star in the sixth row, three from the left.

Charlotte Utschig, Pit Charlotte (appearing as Sylvia Reynolds in the pit) is beyond ecstatic to participate in her seventh show at East! Charlotte enjoys

playing various instruments and spending time with her friends. In her free time, she has fun co-starring with her best friend forevergreen on the hit TV Show “Naked and Afraid” as Tree #1. She sincerely hopes you enjoy the show!

Hanna Vermeulen, Crew As the props crew head for the Tosa East players, Hanna is ecstatic that she’s able to make the show

come alive every night with these unique and fun objects. Her dream career is to be the props manager for the hit show “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” She is beginning to achieve this dream by being an avid member and treasurer of the Mr. Moseby Appreciation Club.
