Can a man without legs complete a marathon race? Ren Nielsen can.His history is a testimony to the human will, a story about never lettinglimitations govern your life.

Pressalit Care does not accept limitations either. For more than 25 yearswe have worked to clear them out of the way. With knowledge, productsand advice. The objective is a better life for people with physical disabili-ties, a better working environment for those who help them, and a better,longer term solution for managements that invest in the facilities.

We have summed up our way of attacking this task in two words:keep living.

In 1991 a train accident cost Ren Nielsen both his legs. In 1993 he became world champion at water skiing.In 1999 he set world records in the shot put and the javelin. At the Para Olympics in Sydney in 2000, he wona silver medal in the shot put, a gold in the javelin and a bronze in the pentathlon. Now Ren is training forthe Iron Man competition in Hawaii in 2004 where he will take part on the same terms as the other athletes.

Respect is the starting point for all our development work at PressalitCare. "It is a matter of flexibility for everyone."

Everyone is a unique individual. Everyone wants to be able to be special and Pressalit Care respects this desire. The result of the work that liesbehind our products is a great degree of flexibility. Flexibility ensures thatthe products can be adjusted to any user and any user situation.

The concrete form that flexibility takes is the horizontal track the foun-dation of our solutions. With the horizontal track mounted on the wall,the individual products can be moved around the room at will close toone another to create better coherence between the bathroom functionsor farther apart to create space and good working conditions.

Creating a well-functioning room is a complex task. Pressalit Care there-fore works systematically. All of our solutions are developed in relation to

three clearly defined elements that set forth the requirements: the User,the Carer and the Room.

The system is represented by three icons: User Carer Room. On thefollowing pages, we review the thinking that lies behind our way of wor-king.

Pressalit Cares products are created through collaboration and teamwork.The users and carers experiences are combined with Pressalit Caresdevelopment expertise and knowledge of movement patterns and spacerequirements.

Hanne Rasmussen, architect and social scientist, is a key figure in this work: "Some people have two legs,others have four wheels." With her uncompromising attitude, Hanne Rasmussen took part in Pressalit Carescreation of the very first bathroom products for people with physical disabilities in 1974. In 1998 she receivedthe Vanfre Funds Research Award.

Carer

For users who cannot managethings themselves, personalassistance is required in thebath and at the toilet. Thebathroom thus becomes a work-place for both family and healthcare professionals. It is ourconviction that good workingconditions, including an appro-priate design of the workplace,must be given high priority sothe work can be performedaccording to the highest healthand safety standards.

Room

The rooms we work with can betoo small or poorly designed.But the walls cannot be moved,so our products must. The flexi-bility of our solutions makes theroom more accessible and easierto work in because it optimisesthe space available. The futurevalue is ensured, because thetrack easily allows for changesin the position and combinationof products.

User

We wish to preserve the personsmobility at the highest level foras long as possible. Room

Space is a scarce resource. Pressalit Care breaks through the roomslimitations. With the wall track, the room adjusts to the user and notthe other way around. This is what we call the room that functions well.

that it is suitable for both users and staff.

Flexibility- Pressalit Cares system ensures that a room can always be adjusted

to a users needs. The products can be removed and added and
