Republic Day – 2015 celebrations by Consulate General of India, Hamburg

The 66th Republic Day of India was celebrated at the premises of the Consulate

on January 26, 2015 with much gaiety. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at 1000

hrs which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. The President’s Address

to the Nation was read out by Dr. Vidhu P. Nair, Consul General in Hindi and

English. Light refreshments were served at the end of the programme. About 100

guests including members of the Indian community as well as German and other

friends of India from Hamburg and neighbouring areas attended the function.

To mark the Republic Day, a reception was organized by the Consulate from

1800 hrs to 2000 hrs on January 26, 2015 at the Museum of Ethnology, Hamburg. Ms.

Aydan Oezoguz, Minister of State in the Federal Chancellery and Federal

Government Commissioner for Immigration, Refugees and Integration was the Chief

Guest at the function. Mr. Michael Neumann, Minister of Interior and Sports of

Hamburg also attended the function. The programme began with the playing of

National Anthems of India and Germany which was followed by welcome speech by

the Consul General and speech by the Chief Guest. Thereafter, a Kathak Dance

performance by Mr. Deodatt Persaud enthralled the audience. Light refreshments

were served at the end of the programme. Around 200 guests, including officials of

the Hamburg government, members of the Consular Corps, German friends of India

as well as members of Indian community from Hamburg and nearby areas attended

the function.
