Employees in transportation, logistics and distribution may attend an industry-specific training program, Introduction to Logistics, at Union County College, free of charge through a grant from the New Jersey Business and Industry Association. This is a 48-hour comprehensive learning experience.

The class will run two evenings per week, Mondays and Wednesdays from October 21 through December 9, 2013 at the Kellogg Building at 40 W. Jersey Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202 at 6:30 p.m.

Employers are encouraged to offer these classes to their employees as opportunities for professional development. Content includes world geography, industry-specific documentation such as airway bills, export forms and commercial invoices as well as MRP and TMS software. Training in communication skills, customer service, team building and logistics vocabulary is also included. Seating is limited to 16. Registration is required. Formers student of the program say, "The topics were informative and relevant, with a lot of real life applications," and "As we work in a support industry to a small section of the logistics chain, seeing the bigger picture is important. We now feel we are more knowledgeable business partners to our clients."
