    PRESS RELEASECOMMISSO FILLS NEW COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR POST

    Former Times Union journalist Dennis Yusko to fill role; will result in greater outreach to the press and public. 

    March 31, 2016

    ALBANY - Albany County Legislature Majority Leader Frank Commisso on Friday announced the office’s new

    communications director will start on April 8.

    Commisso, a Democrat representing the county’s Legislative District 11, said Dennis Yusko, a reporter at the Albany

    Times Union for 17 years, will fill the new position of Director of Majority Communications.

    Commisso said he wanted an experienced person to represent the Majority leadership, someone who could serve as a

    contact for the media and handle public communications.

    “This job will allow us to continue to modernize the way we communicate and help us better connect with the county’s

    nearly 310,000 residents,” Commisso said. “We also recently started posting videos of meetings on our website.” 

    Yusko will report to Commisso and the Majority leadership. Working closely with lawmakers, the media and the public,he will be responsible for publicizing Albany County legislative initiatives and services. Major components of the job

    include answering inquiries from reporters, writing press materials and creating a social media presence for the Majority

    office.

    “I want to thank Frank Commisso for the faith he’s shown in me,” Yusko said. “I look forward to working closely with him

    and the legislators to better serve the public.”

    Yusko, 48, covered Saratoga County and military affairs for the Times Union. He worked as an editorial assistant at the

    paper before being promoted to reporter in 1999.

    He graduated from Marist College and has lived in Albany County for 25 years. He now resides in Guilderland with his

    wife, Virginia, and son, Dario.
