No. 28594745, 28594761; 28521444 – Extn. 323, 336) Press Release Chennai 600002 04 Jan 2016 Postmaster General Chennai City Region Pradhan Mantri Jevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) are the three ambitious social security schemes pertaining to the insurance and pension sector launched on 9th May 2015 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. These are convenient social security protection linked to auto debit facility from the bank account of the subscriber. To popularize these schemes, particularly in rural areas, Tamil names are coined as 'PRADHAMAR SUDAROLI KAAPEEDU', 'PRADHAMAR NATCHATHIRA PAADHUKAPPU' and 'ATAL PENSION THITTAM'. These schemes are re-launched on 01.01.2016 at Avadi Head Post office by Shri Mervin Alexander, Postmaster General, Chennai City Region. PRADHAMAR SUDAROLI KAAPEEDU offers a renewable Rupees Two Lakh annual life cover to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 50 years, covering death due to any reason. A premium of Rs. 330/- per annum per subscriber will be auto-debited from the subscriber's post office savings account on production of simple application. PRADHAMAR NATCHATHIRA PAADHUKAPPU offers renewable Rupees Two lakh accident cum disability cover (Rupees One Lakh for partial permanent disability) to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 70 years. A premium of Rs.12/- per annum per subscriber to be auto-debited from the subscriber's post office savings account on production of simple application. ATAL PENSION THITTAM targets old age income security and will focus on the unorganized sector. It will provide subscribers a fixed minimum monthly pension starting at the age of 60 years on entering the scheme between 18 and 40 years. A fixed minimum pension would be guaranteed by the Government. Also on 01.01.2016 three new ATMs at Chennai GPO, Ambattur Head Post Office and Avadi Head Post Office were inaugurated bringing the total number of ATMs in Chennai City to eight. The ATM at Chennai GPO was inaugurated by Dr. Charles Lobo, Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle and at Avadi by Dr. Rajib Chakraborty, General Manager, Ordnance Clothing Factory, Avadi. Express Service counters will function on 1.1.16 at Chennai GPO, Ambattur Head post Office and Avadi Head Post Office for enrollment of the customers.
