H! My name is Eyrn, I am a mother of two boys and the founder and CEO of the Icelandic

based startup RR. The name originates from the Icelandic word R which means calmness

and comfort.

RR was founded in 2011 around a single idea: to make a product for babies that imitated

closeness when their parents had to be away. I learned from my studies in psychology

that closeness to a caregiver, and especially the sounds of breathing and heartbeat, has

numerous positive effects on babies. Research tells us that closeness helps babies regulate

their own heartbeat and breathing and this in turn results in better quality sleep, more overall

wellbeing as well as added safety.

Knowing this I made an effort to keep my little boys close to me as much as possible. WhenI held them in my arms or slept with them by my side they would sleep for longer at a time

and I felt they were more stable. However, I was faced with the challenge of also needing a

break and rest for myself.

There can be many reasons and situations when parents simply cant keep their little ones

close. Some babies take frequent naps, go to sleep early in the evening and its not safe for

some people to co-sleep with their babies. There are also more serious reasons like illness

and hospitalization of parents and babies.

Indeed, the idea of the Lulla doll was born when my friend had her baby girl prematurely and

had to leave her alone in the hospital every night for two weeks. That really struck a chord

with me and it was then that I deciced to bring the Lulla doll to life.The Lulla doll imitates closeness with its soft touch and soothing sounds, so when parents

have to be away for whatever reason, their babies can still experience the positive benefits of

closeness.

The doll has been in development and testing for 3 years. It has received awards for both

innovation and design. We have also been blessed with numerous grants. We have received

loads of wonderful feedback from our team of parents and baby testers; saying they really felt

the doll made a difference for the whole familys wellbeing. We hope to bring the Lulla doll to

families everywhere to help more parents and children sleep longer, feel better and be safer.

The Lulla doll is a sleeping companion that imitates closeness of a caregiver by playing a

real-life recording of the breathing and heartbeart of a mother at rest. Lullas aim is to help

babies to stabilize their own breathing and heartbeat, resulting in longer and better qualitysleep as well as added security.

Lullas unique patent pending design was inspired by research on kangaroo care, the effects

of heartbeat and breathing sounds, and the effects that smell, sight and touch have on babies

and small children.

Hear When the chest is pressed, Lulla plays a real-life recording of the breathing andheartbeat of a mother at rest. Her name is Gudrun, she is a dear friend, a mother of four and

a Kundalini yoga teacher.

Look Babies prefer to look at something that resembles a human face. The colors of thedoll were chosen for the purpose of making the doll Unisex and Unirace.

Touch The outer layer is made from soft natural cotton. The filling is made from ultra finemicrofiber that is hypoallergenic.

Smel l The fabric of the doll can absorb smell from parents if they first keep it close totheir skin before giving it to their child for extra feeling of security.

C lean and safe The doll is machine washable in warm water making it safer for smallbabies with underdeveloped immune and respiratory systems.

Yes, it can be washed at 40 degrees celsius. The sound device has to be removed prior

to washing which is easily done as it is placed in a velcro pocket on the back of the

doll.

What is the recommended age for the lulla doll?

Is the doll safe for newborns?

How is the lulla doll different from other soothingplush sound machines?

Is the doll machine washable?

The lulla doll is thouroughly safety tested to besuitable for newborns. However, it is not

recommended to have loose items in a crib

with a sleeping newborn. We strongly recom-

mend that from birth to 12 months the doll is

kept away from their face. The doll has velcro

fasteners so you can attach the doll to most

cribs, strollers and other carriers.

The lulla doll is suitable from birth. We recommend it for age 0-24 months when closeness is

vitally important to a childs early development and sleeping routine.

What is different is that lulla doll does not only help babies fall asleep but also stay asleep. Lulla

doll stays on for 8 hours after being turned on. Many other seemingly similar products are only

on for 25-45 minutes (or movement activated) to sooth a baby to sleep whereas the lulla doll

sleeps with your baby throughout the night. It is also unique in the way how it is based on various

scientific studies with real life sounds in stead of sonar or white noice sounds like many other

soothers offer.
