Regional Mountain bike champion and qualified for the 2014 World MTB marathon championship in RSA

I am Julien Bourdevaire, a mountainbike rider of 23 years

old, 2013 regional champion of mountain bike marathon and

cross country. And I recently had my qualification for the

2014 World marathon Championships.

Practicing cycling competition since I was 6 years old, I

have never ceased to grow and broaden my scope. 2013

was a special year because of my qualification at the World

Championships MTB Marathon 2014 in South Africa.

   The coming season will be organized around this event. He-

re is my project ...

PRESENTATION

My project for the 2014 season is to participate and perform at the

World Championship MTB marathon taking place in Pietermaritz-

burg in South Africa.

To achieve my goal, the schedule organization was adapted. The

period of physical preparation before the date of the event (June

29th 2014) is important. That is why I chose to compete in the Ameri-

can championship (California), which begins two months earlier

than the French one. The frequency of MTB events (every 2 weeks)

is very interesting for the training.

In addition to the physical preparation of my project 3 types of

needs: equipements, social and financial.

A high practice of Mountain biking requires great equipements.

Bike, rider gear and apparel is a set that accompanies the athlete

performance, especially as the numerous hours of training and race

days. An athlete needs to have enough equipment.

The annual race schedule is composed of 30 to 40 races. Transpor-

tation, housing and race registration is a part of the budget. my last

season had a budget of € 2000 but in 2014 it is estimated at € 4000,

because of south african travel.

Finally, the social needs includes project’s stakeholders . Thus

sports teams and sponsors who support me and that i will represent

can give extra energy to work on the project.

Why me ?Support by helping one of the needs mentioned previously is the opportu-

nity to be a part of the project and follow me during the season on events

taking place in several countries and continents around the globe. This is

also an opportunity to get visibility in several countries and regions and in

the press.

About meI practice mountain bike on competition since my young age (6 years old)

. My first experience in this sport is a mountain bike race where I finished

3rd . Since this I time never stop this sport that procure me incredible fil-

ling.

I have always practiced cross country mountain bike every weekend on

competitions which where organised at a regional level. This discipline

has remained my first choice. However I practiced other disciplines

that helped to build my qualities of mountainbike rider: like running, trial

mountain biking, BMX, Cyclo -cross, road cycling and also athletics.

Finally I developed my skills through my integration in the «training center

for elite athletes» during my years of graduate study. This center which is

called «Poles espoir» in french, received elite athlètes from differents

sports such as track and field, rowing, orienteering, archery and cycling.

For 3 years I have benefited from intensive academic class and physical

preparation and finally obtein a graduate in science of sports and a great

cycling aptitude.
