Ask  yourself:    “Is  this  the  team  that  I  need  to  take  me  or  my  organiza3on  to  the  next  level?”    If  not,  “You  might  need  to  call  3me  out  and  make  a  subs3tu3on.”

Con;nuity  is  one  of  the  most  essen;al  aRributes  of  a  successful  chapter.    The  president  should  take  the  lead  in  training  newly  elected  and  appointed  officers  and  preparing  them  for  the  transi;on  of  chapter  leadership.    It  is  helpful  to  have  a  chapter  leadership  transi;on  plan.

A  Leader’s  Las;ng  Value  Is  Measured  By  Succession,    Law  #21  of  John  Maxwell's  The  21  Irrefutable  Laws  of  Leadership.

•  “By  creaEng  a  leadership  culture,  preparing  the  organizaEon  for  change,  and  by  planning  for  smooth  succession,  a  leader  can  leave  a  lasEng  legacy.  .  .  A  leader’s  lasEng  value  is  measured  by  the  legacy  le]  behind.”

•  Leadership  success  is  defined  by  the  sustainability  of  the  organizaEon  a]er  a  leader’s  departure.

•  Maxwell  teaches  that  “a  leader’s  lasEng  legacy  will  not  be  measured  by  the  buildings  we  build,  the  insEtuEons  we  establish,  or  what  our  team  accomplished.    Leaders  are  judged  by  how  well  the  people  they  invest  in  carry  on  a]er  they  are  gone.”

•  By  establishing  a  plan  of  succession,  a  leader  will  ensure  the  legacy  of  hard  work  and  impact  she  has  made  and  pave  the  road  for  conEnued  success.
