This year the technology committee will also to introduce the First Annual Vendor Shootout, this year’s focus is “Fraud Prevention”. Participants will include BasePoint Analytics, Core Logic, Data Verify. Interthinx, Kroll Factual Data and Rapid Reporting. (page 3)

National MBA HeadlinesMBA Chairman Robbins Hails GSEs’

Announcement of Loan Products to Help Borrowers Avoid Foreclosure WASHINGTON, DC (April 17, 2007) - John M. Robbins, CMB, Chairman of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), applauded the announcement in congressional testimony by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (The GSEs) that they would provide support for new programs and products to help troubled subprime borrowers.

“I commend Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for their leadership in helping to find solutions to help stranded subprime borrowers. The lend-ing industry continues to actively seek ways to ease the ongoing difficulties of some subprime borrowers and having the GSEs on board as a partner is a welcome addition.

We have met with Wall Street officials, legislators, regulators, in addition to the GSEs and have brought together our own members, all in the search for ways to expand what we are already doing to help subprime borrowers who find themselves unable to pay their loans. This is a broad-based problem, and there are a number of players, in both the public and private sector, who will need to work together to help consumers.

Nobody wins when a loan goes into foreclosure and it will take a team effort to find workable solutions that help keep people in their homes for the long term, and help them get into mortgages they can afford both today and tomorrow. I look forward to working with the GSEs, as well as investors, legislators, regulators and all other stakeholders, to find creative and constructive ways to solve these problems.”
