Greetings my Fellow WCS Members:
Well, The WCS Board’s version of musical chairs has now ended and we have “all sat down”. I’m very happy and excited to take on the challenge of the appointment to WCS President.
Many of you know me, but for those who don’t, my husband and I moved from Minnesota to Las Vegas in 2012. After six harrowing months of renting an off-strip apartment and getting to know the neighborhoods, we discovered Summerlin. We fell in love with the area and built a home here.
My husband and I did not know anyone in the area when we moved to Las Vegas. We went to an art fair and stumbled upon the WCS booth,
where we met Peggy Hausler. Peggy likes to say she picked me up off the street, but that is a bit of an exaggeration. I attended my first meeting and really enjoyed the feel of the group and seeing what the club is all about.
During 2014 and 2015, I served a term on the board as Secretary. I served an additional year (2016) when the elected Secretary needed to step down for medical reasons. My love for the club has continued to grow.
In considering a motto for 2017, I briefly contemplated the following: “What’s the worst that could happen?” and “What… they are not paying me to do this job anyway.” I settled on the following “Together we can do this!”.
I hope you are all as excited as I am about the upcoming Dare to Dream Luncheon and Fashion Show which will be held at Suncoast Hotel & Casino on April 22, 2017. Macy*s will be providing the clothing and I’m sure we will see some wonderful summer fashions. Macy*s carries a wide range of sizes, styles, etc. so there will be something for everyone.
You have all been so kind in your words of congratulations and well wishes. I will do my very best to make you proud. I would like to thank Linda Symonds for setting down her Kindle and plans for relaxation by stepping back into the position of Acting President for the past two months. Her guidance and support are invaluable to me. She can now plan for some free time, although she has graciously agreed to be my Parliamentarian, so she won’t be completely “off duty”. I am also delighted with the wonderful board members I will be working with. They are an exceptional group of women committed to the club.
We have some wonderful events planned throughout the year. Please let me know any thoughts or ideas you have regarding the club. I would love to hear from you.

MEMBER NEWS
Our long-time member and dear friend to many, Peggy Hausler, had an accident about two weeks ago. She fell from a step stool and broke her left arm (the opposite arm from the one she severely broke a couple of years ago). She was admitted to Summerlin Hospital for a couple of days. She was supposed to be in a rehabilitation facility but due to some miscommunication on the part of the hospital and rehabilitation center, she was sent home. Peggy sustained a closed arm fracture. If she keeps the arm immobile, the fissure breaks should grow back together. Peggy will be receiving home health care. Some of her friends have been bringing Peggy food and visiting her. She is at home resting and enjoying the effects of her pain medication. Once her home health care schedule is determined, she will be able to have visitors. Peggy would appreciate your good thoughts, prayers, cards and emails. We all wish Peggy a very speedy recovery.
