Our last chapter meeting went very well and we had lots of fun painting Santa on those palm fronds with Andie Scott. Thank you so much! We had a ball and everybody finished!! We are going into April painting with Kathy Swigon which we are really excited to do. We have nine people signed up and hopefully they can bring a friend or two. She sent us a colored picture and added some new things to it which Pam will tell you about in her report. Our basket lunch is coming along good, but we do need a few more people to sign up for tables. Vicki has a great report on all the progress. You can share a table also. Most of our "snowbirds" will be leaving us very soon and want to wish them all safe travels. Remember we still need your support with the basket lunch. Hope you can all make it back in time for this event. Hope all are having a great April and will see you at our meeting. Stephanie

Kathy Swigon has sent a new version of the class project for April. She is now offering it in color. If you prefer the more colorful version, this will mean a change in the prep instructions. Back ground prep for colored version is: using a foam roller, put out two puddles of paint, one Raw Sienna (RS) and one White (W). Roll one end of the foam roller into RS and the other in W. Roll onto the surface randomly to achieve a mottled look, but do not over blend. If you prefer the design all in white as originally presented, be sure to have your surface base coated in the color of your choice. You need to bring your regular acrylic supplies. Gray or white graphite paper, stylus, paper towels, acrylic palette paper, (optional wet palette), eraser, water basin, tracing paper, pointed cotton swabs (Q-Tips precision tips), and tape. The 3 brushes used in this project (#8 flat, #3 round, #10 Dresden liner) are included in the class fee. Kathy Swigon will supply the paint. If you wish you may bring your own colors. The sign-up sheet is on page 9. Those of you who have signed up but have not yet submitted your payment, please complete the form and mail it to me also.

We need 12 tables and as you will see below, we already have 6 holidays chosen. We need 6 more table hostesses. Please let me know if you will be a table hostess and what holiday will you use to decorate your table. As far as duties the day of the luncheon, our Food Committee is Stephanie Pooler, Andie Scott and Deanna Spence. We will also need people to sit at the greeting table as people come in the door to take their ticket, give them a door prize ticket and to sell the tickets for the baskets. We’d like one person to sell 50-50 tickets as well. Suzi Mills will be in charge of the baskets. You will notice we also have a list of some off-beat, fun holiday themes that you could use for your baskets. Let’s really have fun with the themes this year!! We ask that all members donate 3 baskets for the luncheon. We will also have a silent auction and would appreciate it if each member could donate one really nice item for the silent auction. And we could use a few items for door prizes. The tickets will be available soon and the price is $15. It was decided one free ticket per table will be provided for the table hostess. So, let me know what YOU want to do to make this a successful fundraiser!!

Baskets for Luncheon • The baskets for the luncheon may have a holiday theme. • Each member is asked to make 3 baskets for the raffle. • Each basket is to have a painted item in it. • You can use “grass” or excelsior in the bottom to fill it. You can find this at Wal-Mart or craft stores. • Each basket is to be covered in cellophane. This is available at Michaels in 48 inch wide rolls. Clear works best so that basket contents are easily viewed. Put a pretty bow on the top. You can also buy shrink wrap bags for baskets at the Dollar Tree. • Each basket is to have 2 cards with the contents of the basket printed on them and a title. Put one card inside the basket or attach it to the outside. The second card will be attached to the container used for collecting tickets for the basket. The cards should be no bigger than 4x6, but 3x5 is preferred. • The baskets themselves can be new or clean recycled ones of any shape and size. • Have fun gathering the items to go in the basket. Watch sales and bargain stores for items.
