is your chance to shine as you share your best work with the

Preservation Parks community! The contest begins NOW,

entries are due November 1, 2015, and the Preservation Parks

photography show will take place the entire month of

2015 Contest Guidelines

The photo contest is open to all amateur photographers, Age 11 to adult. Amateur is defined as someone

who derives less than 50% of their annual income from the sale of photographs or photographic works.

Preservation Parks’ employees and their families are ineligible to participate in the contest. Youth

entrants must be between the ages of 11 and 17. Entrants under age 18 will require a signed entry form

by their parent or guardian.

Entry deadline is November 1, 2015. Entries may be submitted by mail or dropped off to Preservation

Parks Photo Contest, c/o Rich Niccum, 2656 Hogback Road, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. If dropping off at Park

District offices at Hogback Ridge Preserve, they can be dropped off 8am – 4pm, M – F. They may also

dropped off at The Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware, 12pm – 5pm, and 7 days

a week. Digital copies (maximum of 5MB) may be e-mailed to [email protected]. Larger

photos may be submitted on a CD/DVD to the same addresses as listed above.

Participants may enter the following: Adults: 2 entries per category, Youth: 3 entries total.

Photo entries are requested in two forms. 1. An 8” x 10” printed photograph, in color or black and white, mounted on foam core board or matte board the same size as the photo suitable for presentation. No matting, frames or glass permitted. 2. A digital copy is also requested with a minimum resolution of 2400 x 3000 pixels and a maximum e-mail size of 5MB, or larger if on a CD/DVD, and in jpeg/jpg format. No major digital enhancements or alterations will be accepted.

Each printed photo must have an official entry form securely attached to the back of the photo. Digital copies submitted by e-mail or on CD/DVD must contain the same information as required on the entry form.

Please do not include any watermarks, date stamps, borders, writing or quotes on photos.

Photos must be your own and not taken by someone other than you. Your submission of the entry form and photo is your guarantee that you are the author, sole owner and copyright holder of the photo.

All photos, except those entered in the historical category, must be taken in a Preservation Parks park. Please visit our website to see all Preservation Parks sites.

By entering this contest, each entrant agrees to the use of their name and/or photograph in any Preservation Parks’ publication, advertisement, or merchandise without further notice or compensation. Preservation Parks can publish or use any submitted photograph at their sole discretion, giving credit to the photographer where possible. The entrant still retains the right to use and publish their photograph. Preservation Parks reserves the right to reject any photograph if it is deemed as containing objectionable or questionable content.

Photos containing recognizable people (photos showing faces) must be accompanied by a signed model release form (included at the end of these guidelines). A form must be signed by each person in the photo.

Preservation Parks will hold a public showing of all photo entries December 1 – 31, 2015 at the Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road, Delaware. Digital copies of photos may be used in a photo contest slide show to be used at various times throughout the year.

Photos will be judged by a panel of Park District staff and volunteers. Photos will be judged on content, image quality, composition, creativity, and storytelling. Visitors to the photo show will be able to vote for their favorite overall photo. A “People’s Choice Award” will be presented after the show.

First, second, and third place ribbons will be awarded in each category. A “Best of Show” ribbon will be awarded in both adult and youth categories. Award winners will be featured on the Preservation Parks web site and Facebook page.

Printed entries may be picked up at the Lodge at Deer Haven Preserve after January 6, 2016 during open hours. Entries not picked up will be discarded.

Contest Categories

Park District Scenes – Photos may capture natural or historical features, structures, events, areas, or people found within Park District parks. Photos may include people and pets, but NO portraits will be accepted. Park location must be clearly identified on the entry tag.

General Nature –Phenomena of nature and the environment must be depicted in this category. This could include landscapes, plants, and natural phenomena of nature and the environment. The human element may be present but should be unobtrusive and only to enhance the scene. Photos must be taken in Park District parks.

Animals – Photos in this category may include only wild animals. No domesticated animals will be permitted. Photos of livestock at Gallant Farm should be entered in the historical category. Photos must be taken in Park District parks.

Historical – Photo entries in this category must capture an aspect of Delaware County’s history and can be taken anywhere in Delaware County, including Preservation Parks sites.

Youth – Photos in this category must be taken by youth between the ages of 11 and 17. Photos must be related to any of the topics listed in the adult categories. Photos must be taken in Park District parks Historical photos may be taken anywhere in Delaware County.
