ST THOMAS’ MOUNT This beautiful small church overlooks parts of Chennai. Over the door are the words, ‘My Lord and My God’ which refers to Thomas’s words when he saw the risen Lord. Tradi- tionally it is believed that Tho- mas was martyred here by a spear bearing Brahmin. That is why you often see images of St Thomas holding a spear, indicating the way he died. The St Thomas Basilica (above) is built over the tomb of St Thomas and was des- ignated a cathedral by the Brit- ish when it was rebuilt in 1893. It is, as you can see, a very beau- tiful building. FAMILY PRAISE SIGNING Here’s Emily and Emmie signing the words to Give me Oil in My Lamp Keep me Burning. Bentley West School has a deaf unit at- tached to the school and all the pupils there learn sign language to help the children integrate with each other. This is so im- portant in church life too as with have Kirsty and Tayo and other family members who are deaf. How lovely it is when we can help this family feel welcome and at home in St Andrew’s. YOUTH CLUB WINNERS Last Wednesday’s Youth Club dis-covered the hidden talents of the members. Congratulations to Shan-non who has passed her Bronze

Duke of Edinburgh Award. She has worked for it by volunteering at the Youth Club. Well done, Shannon! She now starts her Silver!

SYNOD The Southern Dio-cese churches all gathered at St An-drew’s Church yes-terday for Synod. Thank you to all those who worked in providing the lovely meal and drinks. It

all went off splen-didly. Bishop Paul included videos from GAFCON in Jerusalem and his India experience in Kottayam and Chennai. There is also an opportu-nity to work for

the Billy Graham organisation welcom-ing people searching for the Lord. Some delegates had trav-elled over 200 mile to be here.

ALL DRESSED UP! Last Sunday Bishop Paul gave a talk about his recent trip to India. The garlands and shawls looked great, especially the hat. Thank you, Terry and Daniel for being such sports.
