As a 17-year-old in 1997, David Yu thought he had found the first pot of gold – until
he opened the box of collectibles he’d bought on spec at a liquidation sale. Although
the Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia held promise for him, his first foray into
entrepreneurship looked destined for the scrapheap. Once past his “Star”
acquisitions all that remained was an assortment of toy soldiers and dusty old
books about games. Yu was about to ditch these when a friend, who happened to
own a computer shop, convinced him that some of his customers could well be
attracted to these apparent oddities. Once on display they were snapped up and the
business of providing entertainment and hobby alternatives, namely Games R Us
Ltd, took off. These days Yu is an Auckland based Company Director with invested
interests in international retail chains, wholesale & supply distribution in some of
the global leading brands, and property developments in Australasia and Asia.
Finalist in the “Ernst & Young, Entrepreneur of the Year 2004 & 2008” and similarly
prestigious Yu’s company was ranked #12 in the “Deloitte Fast 50 Company”. Yu
also holds interests in numerous e-commerce, cloud computing and social media
projects internationally.

Retail Management Group ltd (N.Z.) founder David Yu, established as a master franchise forretail chain store, from 2006 the company has transformed to become a supply chain businessfor outsourcing and distribution for some of the publicly listed retailers in Australasia, since 2009a division was also established to foster brands that promote New Zealand and Australia and togain foot steps into the Asian market. RMG NZ has interest in retail commercial property,management and distribution in F&B industry supply chain, export and manufacturing, it alsoholds interests in public listed companies in the luxury goods sector.
Retail Management Group operates in three countries under three separate entities, all affiliated to
New Zealand Director control. Offices in Auckland, Shanghai, Beijing, Ningbo, Taipei.
Retail Management Group (Taiwan) Limited, was established in 2009 as the first footstep into the Asian market, focused on taking N.Z and Australian brands to the globalstage. The company is a diversified luxury goods group with interests in Retail,Department Store Retail, Cosmetics, Perfume & Fragrances, Food and Beveragesdistribution, also owned and operate retail stores fronts with offices in both Taipei andKaoshiung City.
