More on the Loop-Back Test

• Loop-back test with a 5-dB attenuator: (VCSEL @ max Ibias & Imod)

i. between the VCSEL and PD– no perceivable eye-diagram

ii. between the VCSEL and the Rx of GDS1250– clear eye-diagram

• Why?– not enough P from the VCSEL, even @ max Ibias & Imod

– PD not sensitive enough to discern attenuated signal
