INTRODUCTION• Poultry is the class of domesticated fowl(birds) farmed for their meat, eggs or feathers• These most typically are members of the ordersGalliformes (such as chickens and turkeys),and Anseriformes (waterfowl such as ducksand geese).• Chicken is the most popular poultry speciesutilized for both meat and egg production.

DefinitionsBroiler is an American word used to describe a meatchicken.Chick refers to a baby bird.Chicken can be used when referring to young birds, the

entire fowl species or the meat that is eaten by humans.Chook is an Australian & New Zealand slang for a hen,or a cooked chicken.Cockerel, cock or rooster are names given to a malechicken. Hen is the name given to the adult female chicken.Pullet is the term used for the immature female layer.A spent hen is one that has finished its productive life.

Egg ProducersLayers– Chickens that are raised to produce eggs – Some can lay over 300 eggs/hen/year

• White egg producers– Small in size– Eg. White Leghorns- white plumage

• Brown egg producers– Larger birds that are not aseconomical as Leghorns– Eg. Rhode Island Reds- dark red plumage

Meat Producers Chickens used for meat production are

called Broilers Emphasis placed on the ratio of feed to

meat produced Butchered at a young age Birds used for meat production are

usually commercial crosses – Example: White Plymouth Rock females

mated to Cornish (English class) males

Fed (for hen, chicks) Carriage inward. Chicks carriage inward. Supervisor for the purpose of

communicating to retailer. carriage outward (chicken supply) Order to payment cycle:- direct payment to

supplier. Warehouse:- there are certain warehouses

we needed- for layer hen, bowler hen, fed store, vaccines store, eggs etc.

Inventory:- no need.

Purpose:- the main purpose to sailing in bulk & to maintain relationship with retailer. To increase size of the business. Because we going to B to B.

Type:- full service wholesaler.Marketing issues:- location near by city or urban

area, choosing market area where more population of non-vegetarian.

Technology:- MAXIMUM USE OF MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES, There are available a number of

different management techniques that result in better performance.

any big event for supply chickens). Direct marketing (through supervisor,
