What is Persimmon?

• Persimmons are the edible fruit of sweet taste, yellowish-orange in colour and considerably watery.

• They similarly vary in size from 1.5 to 9 cm (0.5 to 4 in) in diameter, and in shape the varieties may be spherical, acorn-, or pumpkin-shaped• It contains about 80 % water.

HARVESTING METHOD

• Persimmons harvested by a Sharpe clipper or a knife• Cutting is done by leaving a short stem about 4 cm

• Graded and sorting done on the basis of SizeShapeColour• Grading and sorting done manually.

TRANSPORTATION

• Done by Trucks, Mazda’s, Carts and loader auto-rickshaws.• Trucks carry approx. 1500

cartons.• The pictures shows some

workers unloading a truck.
