AICE (ADVANCED INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION)

AICE courses offer students the opportunity to earn college credit via Cambridge International GCE AS and/or A Level coursework taken on the high school campus during the school day. Students must pass the end-of-year AICE exams in order to have the potential for earning college credit.

AICE courses…..● expose students to college-level rigor.● strengthen the high school transcript. ● enhance college admissions eligibility.● potentially reduce college tuition costs.● explore rigorous, but stimulating content.● involve an extensive time commitment.

HPA WeightingA = 6 points vs. 4.5 (honors)B = 4.5 points vs. 3.375 (honors)

AICE DIPLOMAAICE courses also offer the opportunity for earning an AICE Diploma.

How does one earn an AICE diploma?● Students must earn seven (7) AICE credits within a 25-month time frame (this time frame essentially equates to three consecutive

school years’ testing series). ○ One credit must be for AS-level Global Perspectives and Research○ At least one credit must be earned in EACH of curriculum groups 1, 2, and 3, totalling three of the seven required credits○ At least three additional credits must be earned from groups 1 - 4 (any combination with no more than two coming from group 4)

Currently, students who earn the AICE diploma, officially log 100 community service hours during their high school years, and complete the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship application automatically earn the Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars tuition scholarship (highest level) regardless of grade point average and/or college entrance examination (ACT/SAT) scores.
