    ON-THE-JOB TRAINING FINAL REPORT

As part of the Curriculum, P.U.P Interior Design students should undergo a 200 hours of

On-the-Job Training under the supervision of a licensed Interior Designer, Architect, and

    Furniture maker.

The training starts on independently applying for an OJT position on chosen Companies/

Firm and attend scheduled interviews. This first step of training helped me to gain confidence onmeeting new people on my chosen field, as well as on how to handle myself professionally

especially on first impressions and interviews.

The 100 hours of my On-the-Job Training in the field of Interior Design took place at

Jonathan O. Gan Associates. A Firm that was known to handle Engineering, Architectural, and

Interior Design projects. I was under the supervision of Idr. Seachelle Chua and Idr. Analiza

Limson, and also the whole Interior Design Department team.

these projects and do CAD on floor plans, layouts, and section elevations on spaces like the

Food court, Movie worlds and Lobbies. In addition, I was assigned to make design schemes for

the ceiling, flooring, and on furniture pieces. My task includes CAD, I wasnt that good at

computer aided drafting and I only know the basics, but eventually the task helps me to

developed the skills I have and learn more because my Mentors do not hesitate to share their

skills on it and had gave me more tips. I also worked on the Punchlists of Existing and recent

construction condition, so I was able to familiarize myself on the terms regarding construction.

Im glad that I was able to share on this project the knowledge that I have learned in school

    regarding on Commercial Interior Design.

I was also assigned to work on floor plans, furniture layout, and elevations of Banco De

Oro on CAD. And make design schemes sketches for different areas of Jolly Ting Atrium Hotel.

On preparing swatch boards, Im very pleased to work on a lot of swatches options that the

Company have. This helped me to know and be familiar on materials, especially on new

materials. And also it trained me to produced good swatch boards for presentations.

I also did research on given design styles, on materials and on some elements regarding

Interior Design. The office had a mini library that was full of books about Engineering,

    ON-THE-JOB TRAINING FINAL REPORT

Through my experience of training at Jonathan O. Gan Associates, I became aware on

the real world of interior Design in an Office/Firm, and enhanced me more on the Interior Design

philosophy that Design is not just for aesthetics, but for function and for the safety and comfort

of who will occupy it. Plus, it must be affordable, smart, and most importantly, it takes

    consideration to the environment.

In the field of Furniture Design, I spend my 50 hours of Training at Locsin International.

A furniture Company that do business for export of originally designed modern traditional

Filipino Furniture. I was under the supervision of Mr. Roberto Locsin, the owner and Ms. Janiz

    Mariano, office-in-charge.

On the first meeting, I was so grateful to meet Mr. Roberto Locsin, the Head of Locsin

International. He inspires me to always strive to design furniture that hasnt seen before. To

always work with originality- given to the account not just the aesthetics but also the function

and comfort. He also oriented us on the concept behind their Furniture pieces and on the

Furniture designers who make design for his business.

OJT trainees are expected to submit at least two Furniture design with furniture schedule

and material specification. So, I managed to practice to feed my mind with ideas everyday as

well as familiarize myself on materials and furniture construction terms and techniques.

I am also trained to edit furniture products through Photoshop, on how to showcase it on

the companys website and on how to avoid it from being copied once it was introduced on the

website. On Administrative works, I was asked to work on document filing and to construct a

good reply for a clients email. And since the company does export, my mentor taught us the

process of selling furniture outside the country, and the processing of export documents.

Though I was disappointed on how they evaluate us, Im still grateful for the learning experience

    that Locsin International provided me.

The other 50 hours of my On-the-Job Training took place in an Architectural office under the

supervision of Ms. Carmencita Rosales FPUAF, FPIEP.

I was first asked to work on the Evaluation of Bidders prequalification. I first encounter

    ON-THE-JOB TRAINING FINAL REPORT

The 50 hours of training under the supervision of Ms. Carmencita Rosales FPUAF,

FPIEP had taught me more about Architecture and construction. Plus, I was able to learn a

software that would eventually help me to produce works with the aid of computer. Im very

thankful not only for the knowledge and encouragement my Mentor gave, but also for the meal

that she always prepare that helps us to work better.

The 200 hours of On-the-Job Training have provided me a meaningful exposure not only

to the Interior Design Industry, but as well as, on Furniture and Architecture. Though, it was

tiring and that at times I faced financial problems, still, it was all worth it. I am so grateful for the

experience that opened a countless resources for learning that let me developed the skills I

already have and learned new knowledge not only on my profession but eventually on other

    fields.

There are many people whose nurturing kindness had assisted me on my training. And I

want to take this opportunity to thank my OJT Mentors for the kindness, knowledge, and

patience they have provided me, especially on their efforts to share and teach me their learning

on the best way they can. To my parents for the support and understanding with regards to

financial matters. To my co-workers whose encouragement helps us to boosts our confidence.
