A 19 year old woman presented to the general physician complaining to have red patch in her left stomach for the last 2 weeks. The red, scaly, itchy spots were getting larger and spreading to her back, arms, and thigh. The Physical examination revealed that there was a herald patch and macular erythema (0.5 - 1 cm in diameter), scales. On her back the red patch had a configuration similar with Christmass tree.

1.     WHAT IS DEFINITION AND DIAGNOSTIC FROM THE SCENARIO?

Pitiriasis rosea a disorder of skin disease that the sign the are swasima or self limiting disease, that the etiology hasn’t known for sure but some physicians say that the disease caused by viral infection.

3.     WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE HERALD PATCH AND MACULAR ERYTHEMA?

Macular erythema : is caused by antigen enters our bodies  our bodies get react  there is vasodilatation or the widening of capilaries vessel  universal erythema in our skin.

Herald patch : it caused by herpes 6 and 7 virus infection and herald patch is the primer lession of viral infection (pitiriasis rosea).

4.     WHAT ARE THE FACTOR INFLUENCE THE SPREAD OF A WIDESPREAD RASH?

Internal factor           : Humidity in skin, scratch

External factor           : Virus, winter season

5.     WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT IN THE SCENARIO?

a.      Avoiding soap, but using plain water or some kind of moisturizer

b.      Steroid cream

c.       Oral antihistamin

d.      Don’t stay in sun too long

e.      Fototherapi using UV B maybe helpfull

Treatment : that have symptomatic characteristic, for the itchy it can use sedatif antihistamin, topical drugs it can use salicilat acid powder with menthol 0.5 – 1 %.
