Situation
Santa Coloma de Gramenet is located at the North-East of the city of Barcelona.
PopulationTotal: 120.029 inhab (Idescat, 1/1/2013) Density: 17.147 inhab/km2.
Foreigners: 44,4 % of people born abroad.
Main origins: over 30% from China, others are Morocco, Equator, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
More than 70 nationalities and about 100 different languages are spoken in the neighbourhood.

Public Reading Map of Catalonia
Article 28 of the Act 4/1993, of 18 March, of the Catalan Library
System establishes that the Ministry of Culture has
responsibility to prepare and keep updated the Public Reading
Map.
1. The Map has to bring together the needs of public
reading and establish the type of service corresponding to
each town.
2. The Map and the changes made in it are approved by the
Government of the Generalitat, on proposals of the Council of
Libraries and the representative associations of the Local
Authorities of Catalonia.
3. The Public Reading Map of Catalonia is an instrument of
territorial planning: its extent comprises all the territory of
Catalonia.

Nowadays, the public library system has:
- 600 librarians and a 1000 assistant librarians
- 370 libraries
- 11 Bibliobuses
- Altogether giving service to 410 municipalities covering
almost 95% of the population
3.5 million people have a Library Card

Biblioteca Singuerlín - Salvador Cabré
Biblioteca Singuerlín-Salvador Cabré, outstandsfor its architectural design: its a singular andmodern building, with airy interiors and naturallight. Its façade gives personality to the culturalequipment. It hosts a Cinema, and a specialcollection devoted to documentary cinema andauthor cinema.

World Cuisines
a unique concept "A world of cuisines" as one of the core points of the program of Reading Promotion in the neighborhood.
Is embodied in:
A specific area with 2,000 volumes on gastronomy and world cuisines.
A physical space with a kitchen with quality services.
Santa Coloma de Gramenet has important references around the culinary world:
- The Campus de l’Alimentació (Universitat de Barcelona) Torribera
- the first Michelin star in the metropolitan area (Víctor Quintillà, LA LLUERNA
- and the celebration of the gastronomic "Flavors of the World", organized by an association of the neighborhood.
