Kansas City is 3-2 in regular season play against Baltimore. The two teams met in an AFC Wild Card Game in 2010. The Ravens claimed a 38-24 victory on Opening Day of the 2009 season at M&T Bank Stadium (9/13/09). The contest was tied at 24-24 with 5:00 remaining before Baltimore pulled away. The Ravens recorded a 20-10 victory in their only regular season appearance at Arrowhead Stadium (12/10/06), snapping a streak of 18 consecutive December home wins by the Chiefs.

The Chiefs got their initial win of the 2004 campaign with a 27-24 victory on Monday Night Football at Baltimore (10/4/04). RB Priest Holmes racked up 125 rushing yards and a pair of TDs against his former club, while the KC defense registered 4.0 sacks. Dick Vermeil registered his 100th-career NFL coaching victory with a 17-10 triumph at Baltimore (9/26/03). WR Dante Hall became the fi rst player in NFL history to record a kickoff or punt return TD in three-consecutive games as he returned a kickoff for a 97-yard TD in that game. The Chiefs got their inaugural victory against the Ravens in ’99, as Kansas City posted a 35-8 win in a Thursday night contest at Baltimore (10/21/99). The Chiefs picked off Ravens QB Stoney Case three times, returning two of those INTs for TDs.

Kansas City travels to Baltimore on Friday, Aug. 19 for each teams’ second preseason contest. Both clubs lost their preseason opener as the Chiefs fell 25-0 to the Buccaneers (8/12) and the Ravens lost 13-6 at Philadelphia (8/11). The 2010 season marked a turning point for the Chiefs franchise as Head Coach Todd Haley’s squad turned in a 10-6 record after a 4-12 performance in 2009. It marked the best single-season turnaround in franchise history. The Chiefs won the AFC West Championship and earned a home playoff game for the fi rst time since 2003. Baltimore fi nished the 2010 season with a 12-4 record and a second-place fi nish in the AFC North. The club advanced to an AFC Divisional Playoff Game before falling at Pittsburgh (1/15/11) by a 31-24 score. The Ravens have advanced to the playoffs all three seasons (2008-10) under Head Coach John Harbaugh, posting a 32-16 (.667) regular season record in the process. Kansas City ranked in the NFL’s top 10 in 10 different categories at the end of the 2010 season. The Chiefs won the league’s rushing title, registering 2,627 rushing yards. At home in 2010, the Chiefs gained a league-high 1,463 rushing yards, the third-highest mark in franchise annals. The Chiefs fi nished 11th in the NFL a year ago, allowing 326 total points. Kansas City only allowed its opponents to score on 28.1% of their offensive drives, the seventh-lowest mark in the NFL. CB Brandon Flowers, LB Derrick Johnson and S Eric Berry each returned an interception for a touchdown, the fi rst time the club returned three interceptions for scores since 2003. QB Matt Cassel begins his third season at the helm of the offense after garnering a Pro Bowl invite a year ago. RB Jamaal Charles fi nished second in the NFL in 2010 with 1,467 rushing yards to earn his fi rst Pro Bowl invite. WR Dwayne Bowe caught a league-high 15 TDs and was elected to his initial Pro Bowl. On defense, Johnson paced the club with a career-high 147 tackles. Kansas City hosts cross-state rival St. Louis on Friday, Aug. 26 in a Governor’s Cup contest. Baltimore hosts the Washington Redskins on Thursday, Aug. 25. The Chiefs will resume training camp in Kansas City on Sunday, Aug. 21.

John Harbaugh was named the third head coach in Ravens history on Jan. 19, 2008. He guided Baltimore to an 11-5 regular season record and a berth in the AFC Championship Game as a rookie head coach in 2008 and a 9-7 record and a playoff berth in 2009. The club finished 12-4 a year ago and advanced to an AFC Divisional Playoff Game. Harbaugh spent the 10 seasons prior to being the Ravens head coach with the Philadelphia Eagles (’98-07). He served as the club’s secondary coach in

2007 after working nine seasons as the Eagles special teams coordinator. Philadelphia made four straight NFC Championship Game appearances (2001-04) and appeared in the playoffs five consecutive years (2000-04) during Harbaugh’s tenure with the Eagles. The club also earned a berth in Super Bowl XXXIX. Following the 2001 campaign he was named the NFL’s Special Teams Coach of the Year. Born Sept. 23, 1962 in Perrysburg, Ohio, Harbaugh played defensive back at Miami (Ohio). He began his coaching career at Western Michigan (’84-86) and also enjoyed stops at Pitt (’87), Morehead State (’88), Cincinnati (’89-96) and Indiana (’97). He is the son of long-time college coach, Jack Harbaugh and the brother of long-time NFL QB and current San Francisco Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

Todd Haley was named the 11th head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 6, 2009 and begins his third year leading the Chiefs. Haley enters his 17th season in the NFL in 2011 and his 15th season as an NFL coach after beginning his career as a scouting assistant with the N.Y. Jets in ’95. Haley led the Chiefs to a 10-6 record in 2010 after posting a 4-12 mark in 2009 for the best single-season turnaround in franchise history. Kansas City won the AFC West Championship

as Haley was named the NFL Coach of the Year by the NFL Alumni Association and the AFC Coach of the Year by the Committee of 101. Haley joined the Chiefs after a two-year stint as Arizona’s offensive coordinator (2007-08), helping the Cardinals reach Super Bowl XLIII as the club won its first division title since ’75. He has made playoff appearances with five different NFL teams. He served as passing game coordinator/WRs coach under Bill Parcells with Dallas (2004-06) after beginning his career under Parcells with the N.Y. Jets (’97-00). He also served as WRs coach with Chicago (2001-03). Born on Feb. 28, 1967, Haley grew up in Upper St. Clair, Pa. He is the son of long-time NFL personnel executive Dick Haley, who helped build the Steelers Super Bowl teams of the ’70s. He was a ’91 graduate of the University of North Florida.

• Todd Haley joined Chiefs Hall of Fame inductee Marty Schottenheimer (11-5 in ’90) as the only other coach to guide the Chiefs to a double-digit victory tally in his second season with KC.

RB Thomas Jones added 896 yards on the ground as the club led the NFL in rushing (2,627). FB Le’Ron McClain joined the club as an

unrestricted free agent from Baltimore. WR Dwayne Bowe led the league with 15 TD receptions in 2010, the highest seasonal total in club history. WR Jerheme Urban missed the 2010 campaign on IR while WR Steve Breaston joins the WR corps in 2011. They are joined by WRs Jonathan Baldwin, Terrance Copper, Jeremy Horne, Dexter McCluster and Verran Tucker. Head Coach John Harbaugh has led Baltimore to the playoffs in each of his three seasons at the helm, marking a franchise fi rst. QB Joe Flacco started all 16 games for the third-consecutive year and passed for a career-high 3,622 yards and 25 touchdowns, ranking sixth in the NFL and fi fth in the AFC. He also became Baltimore’s franchise leader in passing yards (10,206), touchdown passes (60), completions (878) and attempts (1,416). RB Ray Rice surpassed the 1,000-yard-rushing mark for the second straight season, fi nishing sixth in the AFC with 1,220 yards to go along with fi ve TDs. WR Anquan Boldin led the receiving corps with 64 receptions for 837 yards and seven TDs. He is joined at WR by Lee Evans, who was acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 12. Second-year WR David Reed and rookie WR Torrey Smith also fi gure into the passing attack. TE Ed Dickson hauled in 11 passes for 158 yards and a TD as a rookie last season. He is joined by fellow second-year TE Dennis Pitta. Baltimore ranked third in the NFL in scoring defense in 2010 for the third straight season, giving up just 16.9 points per game. The Ravens were +7 for the season in turnover ratio, good for ninth in the NFL. The defense is led by LB Ray Lewis, who enters his 16th season. Lewis earned his 12th Pro Bowl invitation last season after leading the team with 145 tackles (103 solo). S Ed Reed led the NFL with eight INTs for 183 yards, despite missing the fi rst six games of the season following hip surgery. LB Terrell Suggs led the team with 11.0 sacks (-73.0 yards) and added 5.0 sacks (-25.0 yards) over two postseason contests. DT Haloti Ngata anchored the defensive line with 65 tackles (48 solo) and 5.5 sacks (-43.0 yards). K Billy Cundiff earned his fi rst trip to the Pro Bowl after converting 26 of 29 fi eld goals and all 39 of his PATs for 117 points. RADIO: The Chiefs FOX Football Radio Network, anchored by KCFX-FM (101.1) in Kansas City, carries all Chiefs games. Eight-time Kansas Broadcaster of the Year, Mitch Holthus, is in his 18th year handling the play-by-play duties, while Hall of Fame QB Len Dawson adds color commentary with sideline reports from former Chiefs Pro Bowl long snapper Kendall Gammon. The KCFX pregame show begins at 5:30 p.m. (CT). Following the game, the Chiefs FOX Football Radio Network will air the fi rst hour of the postgame show.
