Flights

Flights

Please be at the airport at 11:30 am at Terminal 1 United International and meet the group before checking in and going through security.

It’s important to recognize that the airlines are independent entities outside of ACIS that have their own rules and regulations. So, let’s review:

• The steps you should take if your flight is delayed or canceled• What ACIS can do, and what the airlines can (and should!) do for you in the event of a

cancellation or delay

Flights

If your flight is delayed or canceled, ACIS can:• Activate your phone chain to let parents know of the changes• Alert your Tour Manager of your later arrival time• Do everything we can to ensure that you do not miss anything

on your trip. We can’t guarantee that we will be able to add back in lost time on your trip, but we will do our very best to rearrange your itinerary so that you don’t miss any scheduled activities.

Your Airline should:• Ensure that you are rebooked onto a new flight all the way

through to your destination• If it is a mechanical delay, the airline should cover cost of

additional hotels, transfers, etc. If it is a weather delay, your ACIS travel insurance will kick in. See your insurance plan for coverage details. Remember to save receipts.

Arrival Day

Welcome to your first day abroad! Start your ACIS trip off right by knowing what to expect on arrival day.

Getting into town - Your ACIS Tour Manager or a Transfer Tour Manager will meet you at the airport and bring you to the hotel. Depending on when you arrive, you might not be able to check in yet but you will be able to store your bags.

Don’t nap - Freshen up, but resist the temptation of an afternoon nap. Your group will recover from jet lag faster if they stay active during the day and then go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Once we arrive:

1.Stroll Unter den Linden

2.Good weather: take the subway to a lake

3.Bad weather: Sony Center

4.Stay awake until 9:00 pm!

Free Time Abroad

Free time is one of the best ways to explore and understand a city – make the most of it!

We will spend the free time together. I have things planed and I am flexible and open to suggestions. Feel free to research some activities and ask.

Once trust has been established you are allowed to spend some time on your own. This time might increase or decrease. I am always there to help and guide you.

Meals

The “skinny” on meals:• All ACIS trips include breakfast and dinner

daily, unless otherwise noted. Breakfast will be at the hotel. Dinner will be at a local restaurant or the hotel.

• We try to incorporate a mixture of authentic and familiar cuisine, so prepare your students (and their palates) to be open-minded to trying new things. Unless specified, beverages are not included with meals.

• Let us know about special meal requests (vegetarian, etc) in advance. While we can’t guarantee them and they may not always be available, we would be happy to request them.

• You never need to tip your waiters at ACIS meals.

Bon appétit!
