7FP Status of Ukraine
Ukraine is still non-associated country.
It means that Ukraine cannot coordinate the projects and also has a limited access to different activities and programs. Ukraine also cannot take part in all program committees of EU Framework program, EU-CREST Committee on “IPR and Research”, in Joint Research Centre(JRC), in Advisor Teams or other expert groups.
These obstacles can be overcome when Ukraine become an associated country.
6
New scientific and technical cooperation agreement with EU
These obstacles can be overcome andplan of scientific and technical cooperation could be realized in the frame of new Agreement about association with EU.
This agreement in compare with present one, signed in July 2002, should establish new type of relations between Ukraine and EU in the area of scientific and technical cooperation.

UKRAINIAN RESEARCH COMMUNITY JOINS EUROPEAN COMMUNITY VIA GÉANT2
GÉANT2 establishes exciting new research link into Eastern Europe with URAN connection
Monday 11 February 2008, Cambridge, UK – DANTE, a European research and education network provider working alongside the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), has announced the launch of a high-speed connection link between the Ukrainian NREN, URAN and the high bandwidth, pan-European research network, GÉANT2. The new link is a further step towards supporting a truly global research community with the integration of the Ukrainian NREN into Europe’s most advanced research network.
The 100 Mbps connection procured by URAN will terminate in Warsaw, where it is being carried on PSNC, the Polish NREN, following anexclusive agreement with the Ukrainian NREN, URAN. A high speed dark fibre route will be provided by PSNC between the cities of Warsaw and Poznan in Poland, allowing a dedicated connection to the GÉANT2 router in Poznan to be accessed by URAN in Kiev.
