Preparing for Filming- Props

• It’s important to plan out what props and costumes/makeup we are going to use in our music video so that we are prepared when filming.

• The choices for props is also important as we may use certain colours to symbolise feelings of the characters in our music video.

Props:We need a lighter for when we burn the dandelions and so I think that a red one would be the most appropriate as this towards the end of the music video.

As red signifies anger, love and passion I think this would work because as the music video progresses the relationship between the two characters begins deteriorating.

We need to use a phone in our music video to imply that the character is cheating in their relationship and to show the changes in their relationship.

Bathbombs are essential for our music video as many of the shots are going to show the different colours of the bathbombs.

Perhaps towards the beginning of the music video we could use warmer coloured bath bombs such as orange and yellow or pink to show the love and warmth in the relationship.

Towards the end of the relationship we could have more cooler/ darker colours such as dark blues or purples to reflect the characters emotions. We were also going to

have close up shots of lava lamps to make our music video more abstract and fit the indie-pop genre.

Music and sound related props are going to be used throughout the music video as the song title is “The Sound”. We thought that these can be used especially in the chorus to reflect the lyrics referring to sound.

Musical instruments and the band playing them are also typical features of an indie-pop music video which we found that our target audience research liked.

We thought that fairy lights when the band are playing would help create a more interesting music video as well as looking aesthetically pleasing.

Other Props: We need most of these other props in order to reflect or make reference to the lyrics of the song. This will then help the narrative and will help show the changes in the music video at a more positive beginning and negative ending. These props are also more abstract and will hopefully make the video more interesting.
