AKC SANCTIONED 4-6 MONTHS PUPPY JUDGE: LORRAINE BISSO

Entries will close Wednesday Noon, May 6, 2020, at Superintendent’s office.One combined class will be offered for breeds of dogs that are (4) four months & under (6) six

months An AKC registration number or AKC litter number will be required for entries. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin.

Dogs are required to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s protocol in order to avoid inadvertent transmission of illness by/to puppies not yet fully immunized.

Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants or household members of a professional handler. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. Minors (under 18) with amateur status who reside with professional handlers and current assistants to professional handlers that are eligible to compete in Junior Showmanship (meet age and amateur status requirements) may personally exhibit dogs in the Four-to-Six Month (Beginner Puppy) Competition.

AKC Rules in Dealing with Misconduct will be applicable to any person and dog entered at this competition. All applicable rules found in Rules Applying to Dog Shows will govern the conduct of this competition unless these regulations state otherwise. Exhibitors should plan on opening the mouth of their puppy for the judges. Breed standard disqualifications such as color, height, weight or dentition shall not be a point of consideration in the judging process for this 4 & Under 6 Months Puppy in Show Competition.

AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIESThe AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited

by their owners that are not professional handlers. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry on the entry

form. Dogs entered in the Amateur-Owner-Handler class will automatically be marked as eligible to compete in the NOHS. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the judge’s book, steward’s book & the catalog. Professional handlers,* household members and current assistants to professional handlers** may not exhibit. Dogs must be handled by an eligible owner/handler for the AKC NOHS throughout the breed level (all classes, Winners, and Best of Breed) competition.

Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the non-regular classes.

• If the Best of Breed winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed.

• If the Best of Breed winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed.

• If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed are Owner-Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch.

• No class dogs other than the Winners Dog & Winners Bitch are eligible to return to the ring.*Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional

handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years

**A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or assisting a professional handler at the show or any time during the cluster/weekend. SWEEPSTAKES – JUDGE: CAROLYN DISONThe Sweepstakes is open to all Irish Setters who, on the opening day of the show, will be six months and under eighteen months of age. Entry fee is $20.00 to be paid in addition to the Regular Class entry fee. All entries in the Sweepstakes MUST also be entered in a Regular Breed Class. The Sweepstakes class should be shown as an Additional Class on the same entry form used to enter the dog or bitch in a Regular Class.

Non-Regular Classes Involving Single Dog EntriesThe following non-regular classes will be provided for both dogs and bitches. Winners are eligible, if otherwise undefeated, to compete in Best of Breed Competition.Veteran Dog & Veteran Bitch – A Class for Dogs and a Class for Bitches 8 Years & Older. Entries in the

Veteran classes may be spayed or neutered. Field Trial Classes - Class for dogs & class for bitches that have placed in a Regular Derby, Gundog, or

an All Age Stake at a licensed AKC Field Trial. Exhibitor must Attach Verification to the entry form (trial name, date, class and placement). Puppy stakes do not count. Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches are eligible to compete.

Versatility/Hunter Certificate Class – Class for dogs & class for bitches that have attained his/her Versatility Certificate, Versatility Advanced, Versatility Excellent, Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter, Master Hunter. Stud Dog Class and Brood Bitch Class: Each entry is shown with not less than two nor more than four of their get. The merits of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch are not considered in the placement of the entry. It is the quality of the get that forms the basis for the judge’s decision. All get must be examined and gaited. The Stud Dog or Brood Bitch must also be examined to determine if there is a condition that would require disqualification or excusal under the Rules, AKC policy or the breed standard. All get must be entered in a regular class in order to be eligible to compete in the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch Class. Handlers of the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch, and all get being exhibited, must wear armbands. Ch. 11, Sec. 8 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows” provides that “a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class.”Brace Class: Two Dogs, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in the brace class must have at least one common owner. Dogs do not need to be entered in any other class. Dogs comprising a Brace Class must be named at the time of entry, and full particulars must be given for each dog on individual entry forms. If a dog which is to be part of a Brace is not entered in another class, it must be entered for “Brace Class only.” An entry form for a dog entered in another class and entered as part of a Brace must be marked accordingly in the space provided for additional classes as “Brace Class.”Team Class: Four Dogs, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of four handlers. Dogs competing in the team class must have at least one common owner. Dogs do not need to be entered in any other class. Dogs comprising a Team Class must be named at the time of entry, and full particulars must be given for each dog on individual entry forms. POINTS FOR RESERVE WINNERS DOG & BITCHCH. 16: SEC. 1 (new 6th paragraph) Each AKC Parent Specialty Club shall have one designated Parent Club National Specialty show per year. All others shall be termed a Parent Club Specialty Show. Unless the Parent Club, in its Application to the AKC to hold its National Specialty, chooses to exclude the following Award; At the National Specialty the dog designated Reserve Winners Dog and the Bitch designated Reserve Winners will be awarded a three (3) point major, provided that the number of dogs competiting in the regular classes of the Reserve Winners sex totals at least twice the number required for a five (5) point major, in the region in which this event is held. No Major for Reserve Winners shall be given based upon an award of Best of Winners. In counting the number of dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, or that is dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge or from which all awards are witheld, shall not be included.

JUDGE’S AWARD OF MERITAt the conclusion of Best of Breed judging, after picking Best of Breed, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog and Select Bitch, the judge at his discretion may choose up to 10% of the Best of Breed entry for an Award of Merit. The award shall be a medal on a ribbon to be worn around the neck of each dog selected. Winners Dog and Winners Bitch are not eligible for Awards of Merit.

PARADE OF TITLE HOLDERSAll Irish Setters who have earned a title, both American and foreign, are eligible for the Parade, for which a fee of $16.00 will be charged. Entry form must state “PARADE OF TITLE HOLDERS”. Entries must be mailed to Sandy Jones as directed on entry form. Rosettes with dog’s name inscribed will be offered to all participants in the Parade. Rosettes must be claimed the day of the show. Rosettes will not be mailed. SEE ENTRY FORM, PAGE 9.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITIONNOVICE CLASS: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on

the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class.

OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class or if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open in a licensed or member show.

MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have 10 Best Junior wins with competition.

NOVICE AND OPEN CLASS DIVIDED: Junior-9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show; Intermediate-12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show; Senior-15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show.

BIATHLON CHALLENGE

The Biathlon Challenge is a competition to honor the most versatile Irish Setter at the 2020 National Specialty.

COMPETITION RULESTo be eligible, a dog must enter and compete in at least two (2) events offered at the National

Specialty – agility, obedience, rally and Conformation (not including sweepstakes). Any combination of the two is acceptable. More than one person throughout the competition may handle the dog.

Dogs participating in these events can earn points, even if they do not qualify. Points, however cannot be earned by dogs that are excused for lameness or unacceptable behavior as defined by the rules of that particular event.

Points will be awarded for only one class in each of the events. If more than one class is entered, the one with the highest number of points earned will be used.

All scoring for the top award will be done from the official judge’s book(s) for each event in order to verify the Irish Setter has met the participation requirement (i.e., was not excused).

The dog earning the highest number of points during the National Specialty week is winner of the Biathlon Challenge. Winner of the competition will be announced, and the award presented at the end of Best of Breed.

CONFORMATIONSince dogs entered in conformation do not receive scores, points are awarded based on the

number of the dogs defeated in competition. Dogs defeated is determined by the number of dogs entered and shown in a class, not including those excused or disqualified. The maximum number of points awarded to a dog for any given class is 14.

One point is awarded for the dog itself being entered and shown. For example, in a class of 6 entries, first place would receive 6 points (one for itself and 1 point for each dog defeated), second place in class would earn 5 points, etc.

For dog advancing to Winners, Reserve Winners or higher, class points are dropped and the dog is awarded the number of points indicated below.

TIE BREAKERIn the event of a tie score, the following shall be used:

1. If more than two (2) events are entered and competed in, points for three events will be added to the total points compiled.

2. If a tie still exists or no Irish Setter competed in more than two (2) events, bonus points will be added to the tied scores based on level of competition in each event the Irish Setter participated in. The higher class competed in will be used, regardless if that score was used in the original calculation.

1. (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the particular variety you areentering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough, smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers(standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat), English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).

2. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship.

3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, inaddition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e, age division, color division, weight division.

4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his/her name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to the AKC. (For complete rules, refer to Chapter 11, Section 3.)

5. Mixed Breed dogs entering classes for Agility, Obedience, and Rally trials should mark Breed as “All-American Dog/Mixed Breed.” Sire and Dam information shall remain blank for mixed breed entrants.

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS – ALL EVENTS

The American Kennel Club Rules and Regulations will govern this Show and Exhibitors must make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this Show Premium List.

• The American Kennel Club will collect: a $3.00 Event Service Fee and $.50 Recording Fee where applicable for the first entry of a dog, plus a $3.00 service fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single-entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. At every licensed or member club rally trial, a recording fee of $3.50 is required for the first entry of each dog and a recording fee of $3.00 is required for each additional entry of the same dog.

• No Entry will be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. Telegraph, e-mail and unsigned entries cannot be accepted and will be returned. Entries not on Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE. The Club and/or Baray Events assumes no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or the owner’s agent. RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMPLETENESS OF ENTRY RESTS SOLELY WITH ENTRANT.

• RETURNED CHECKS DO NOT CONSTITUTE A VALID ENTRY FEE. BaRay Events will add a $30.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. We will not re-process checks. The exhibitor will be contacted & required to send a money order for the original amount PLUS the $30.00 NSF fee. Subsequent returned checks from same person may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY BASIS.

• REFUNDS for cancellations due to judge change or cancellations made prior to entries closing will be mailed by the Club to said Exhibitor or Agent AFTER THE SHOW. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries.

• Females in season are not permitted to compete in Obedience or Rally Trials. If a female is withdrawn from competition because it came into season and the Superintendent is notified no later than one half hour prior to the start of the first class in the trial, the Clubs is required to refund the entry fee. The Clubs may retain a processing fee and must publish this information in the premium. Clubs may determine the documentation, if any that is required to confirm the female is in season. This shall be stated in the premium. Note: No fee is paid to the AKC for females in season who are withdrawn.

• FAX ENTRIES – Fax entries will be accepted up to closing time. Fee is $4.00 per dog per show. If the credit card charge is denied for any reason, an additional service charge of $20.00 will be added. FAX NUMBER: (360) 755-2248. This is for Fax Machine ONLY. Incomplete or illegible Fax entries are not acceptable as a valid entry in a show. Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt of a legible or complete transmission (under AKC Rule Ch. 11, Sec. 4). • Entries will be acknowledged after entries close with entry acknowledgment and judging program to address on entry. Should Exhibitor NOT receive an acknowledgment within a reasonable time, PLEASE notify BaRay Events at (360) 755-7086 or email [email protected].

• Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by the Judge or Veterinarian, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. There is no refund for DUPLICATE ENTRIES or OVERPAYMENTS. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open, or to complete the Show NO REFUND will be made. • Please note: Any hotel or motel listed in the premium list is subject to Event Committee Rules. We expect our exhibitors to be responsible guests. A report that an exhibitor at this show has abused hotel or motel property during this weekend may result in disciplinary action. Clubs reserve the right to decline future entries from the offending party in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 11, Section 15 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows.

• Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superintendent will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.

• Only dogs eligible for these shows will be admitted into the show area. There is no provision for unentered dogs.• LOSS OR DAMAGE – The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors,

but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of any accident or misfortune, to either dogs or exhibitors participating in these Shows. The welfare of an Exhibitor’s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children.

• Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. Additionally, clubs should include any specific local health requirements; for example proof of rabies vaccination.

• PUBLICATION RIGHTS – By entering this show, all owners, handlers, breeders and kennels agree that all rights to televise, videotape, photograph, advertise, promote and publicize or otherwise exploit this show, or the persons or animals participating in it or the results of the competition before, during or after the event, shall belong solely to The American Kennel Club and their respective assigns, including the use of the names, likenesses or biographical matter of all dogs, owners, handlers, breeders and kennels participating in the show and no such owner, handler, breeder or kennel shall allow any other party to make commercial use of any videotape or photograph of any person or animal participating in this competition.
