• The unique selling point of Transformers is the fact the plot is based around alien robotic machines with the ability to ‘transform’ into electronics found on earth such as cars or planes. The USP expands around the robots as we learn there are two types of them, good and bad, and that they’re all weaponised and in an ongoing war between both sides. Because of this, the movie is able to use large amounts of special effects in order to make the movie as entertaining as possible to help market their film to their audiences.

• The USP has been used in the film trailer to market the film as the robot aliens are shown frequently and often in intense moments of action. This shot for example is taken from the trailer; it not only shows the USP of one of the robots but presents it in a dramatic fashion as he parachutes from the sky shooting a gun in each hand, creating explosions of each side of him.

• By using this in the trailer, producers are previewing lots of action that will be in the movie to the audience and showing that this film holds includes something different to all others that are the robots in war.

• Another way in which the USP is used to market the film within the trailer is by showing the robots in their form which is known to earth. In another shot taken from the trailer, producers are displaying two sports cars to the viewers before quickly showing how they transform into armed robots. This helps market the film as many people would be attracted to the sports cars and the idea of them changing into robots to fight. Stereotypically younger boys interested in cars and action would find the trailer appealing and be intrigued to see more after the trailer.
