1. INTRODUCTIONWhat is History? It is a science that study our pastHow do we study it?

Any leftover of the past can be considered a source. It might well be a document, and we often think of history as a textual discipline, based on the interpretation of written texts, but it might also be a building, a piece of art or an ephemeral object – a train ticket, say, or perhaps a pair of shoes. These are all 'sources' because they all provide us in different ways with information which can add to the sum of our knowledge of the past. Sources only become historical evidence, however, when they are interpreted by the historian to make sense of the past.

A primary source (also called original source or evidence) is an artifact, a document, a recording, or other source of information that was created at the time under study

•A secondary source is written after the refering facts

¿Who study History? :Historians are the ones that study the past. They investigate, search for information, analyse data from primary and/or secundary sources and finally they give us conclusions.

Herodotus was a Greek historian who is widely referred to as The Father of History”.He lived in the fifth century BC

1. INTRODUCTIONWhat do the terms B.C. and A.D. mean?B.C. is an abbreviation for “Before Christ.” A.D. is an abbreviation for “anno Domini,” which is Latin for “in the year of our Lord.”B.C. and A.D. are commonly used to count years in time. Jesus Christ’s birth is used as a starting point to count years that existed before (B.C.) and after (A.D.)Time Measurement Scale:

YearsDecade (10 years)Century (100 years). The first century started the year 1 and

ended the year 100 AD. How can you calculate the century of a given year? Very easy: Divide the year by 100, drop the decimals and add one. Adding one is necessary because the year 1 is considered the first century, so the year 101 is the second, and so on. For example, to calculate the century in which the year 1955 is, divide 1955 by 100. You will get 19.55. Drop the decimals and add one (19 + 1). The result is 20. Thus, 1955 is in the 20th century.
