Hurwitz amp Associates expects 2016 to be an interestingyear with a combination of innovative new offerings and aresurgence of existing technologies in the forefront Webelieve 2016 will be the year when the old is new againcustomers will continue to absorb and deploytechnologies such as cloud microservices IoT andadvanced analytics We also expect to see continuedconsolidation in the market Large enterprise vendors willcontinue to purchase innovative companies as both ldquotuck-inrdquo acquisitions and a fast way to enter a new market

1 Hybrid cloud Management gets big For thehybrid cloud to be successful there needs to be solutionsthat help customers manage their existing and newenvironments We expect a flurry of announcementsregarding hybrid cloud management by major cloudplayers We also expect to see startups entering thisspace

2 Machine learning and cognitive computing willunderlie most new apps More and more softwarecompanies will be embedding intelligence inside theirapplications Ironically many customers will not realizethe impact and added value

3 The cloud market will consolidate Infrastructureas a Service is a commodity Competing solely on price isnot a differentiator nor is it a sound business modelVendors that cannot add significant value in terms ofscale and security will lose momentum

4 Clouds will go vertical Vendors will begininnovating on vertically focused cloud for highly regulatedand security-sensitive markets We have already seen
