PRE-WEATHERED VM ZINC® : QUARTZ-ZINC® & ANTHRA-ZINC®
There are many reasons for choosing VM ZINC® for your roofing and facade projects. Zinc is naturally resistant to
corrosion, is extremely durable and does not require costly maintenance. In addition, the flexibility,
malleability and versatility of zinc, combined with its pleasing appearance, make it the
material of choice for imaginative building projects.

ANTHRA-ZINC.
This is not a finish but a genuine, treatment of the surface.
Technical Information
New, rolled zinc has a shiny metallic appearance. After
installation it reacts, over several years, to oxygen, CO2
and H2O by forming a grey surface layer called patina.
Some years ago, VM ZINC developed an innovative surface
treatment which gives the zinc a patina-like aspect imme-
diately after rolling. The QUARTZ-ZINC and ANTHRA-ZINC
aesthetics are a result of such a surface treatment
Our New Generation range is protected with an organic
resin (chromatic free) which add even more protection to
the material.
Mechanical & technical specifications0.2 % yield strength > 100 N/mm

Technical Data Sheet
> Type of building: New construction or renovation. For roofi ng and cladding projects.
Mont D’Or College, France by Thomas, Fassio & Viaud.Winner of the ARCHIZINC Trophy 2004 for the Public Buildings category.
A Umicore brand
Type of project
- New construction or renovation.
- Cold or warm roof and only for straight-pitch roofs.
- Premises with low to moderate hygrometry levels.
- For other types of building, please consult VM ZINC
Australia.
Roof pitches- Minimum pitch > or = 9° (15%).
In particularly exposed locations or locations at an
altitude of 900m or more, the minimum slope is 15°
(25%).
Support:- The support shall be of ventilated plywood or
continuous fi r wood timbers.
- The wood decking should conform to the codes of
practice for zinc roofi ng.
Climates- Low altitudes: no restriction.
- Mountain areas: supplementary waterproof membrane
required.
- Windy regions: increase the number of slide clips at the
cladding or roofi ng edges in exposed area.
Admissible resistance in Pa (Pascals) per sqm- The amount of stress calculated must take into account
the characteristics of the roof (height, slope, local stress
at the edges, corners and eaves, exposure) and must
be lower than the admissible resistance of the DEXTER
system.
- For high load pressure, please consult us.
DEXTER: Description
Description of the systemDEXTER, the VM ZINC patented pre-formed roofi ng and
cladding system, is quickly and easily installed.
It is recommended for straight-pitch roofs with slopes
of 15% (9°) or more. DEXTER is an ideal solution for
all roof size (such as collective houses, penthouses,
schools...) and facades.
Only 3 DEXTER panels are needed to cover 1m2. The
assembly (no mechanical tools necessary) is easy and
shorten zinc-laying time. DEXTER roofi ng system also
includes an extensive range of accessories designed
for fi tting ridges, eaves, verges, edges and valleys.
Manufactured in QUARTZ-ZINC PLUS and ANTHRA-ZINC
PLUS, DEXTER panels have the same durability and
aesthetics as titanium zinc.
House, France. Architect: Atelier Fournier
Description of the DEXTER panels
Aspects QUARTZ & ANTHRA PLUS NG
Surface covered 400 X 835mm i.e 3 panels/sqm
Weight/sqm 7.6 kg in 0.7mm thickness
Packaging One pack includes 6 DEXTER panels i.e 2 sqm
InstallationThe DEXTER element is fi xed onto the support at the top using a
sheet clip. Along the side, clips are installed on the oblique fold
using two side clips. The elements are longitudinally
assembled by simply locking the sides of the elements into
one another. Transversally, the elements are assembled using
double-welt joints. The DEXTER panels must be installed from
right to left. The transverse joints can be staggered or aligned.

DEXTER clips
JunctionThe elements are assembled longitudinally by simply
locking the sides of the elements into one another.
Transversally, the elements are assembled using
double-welt joints. The transverse joints overlap by
158 mm and the side with the rounded profi le has a
200-mm zone where the profi le narrows so as to
facilitate overlapping. The DEXTER system is laid from
the right end to the left end like roofi ng tiles. The
transverse joints can be staggered or aligned.
DEXTER: Framework & Fixing
Residential apts, France by Golhen Architects.
Recommended fi xingsThe DEXTER elements are fi xed at the top by one sheet
clip and by 2 side clips, which are placed along the side
with the oblique fold. When placed in position, each
DEXTER needs to be immediately fi xed at the top by
a sheet clip inserted into the centre of the safety fold.
The side clips are put in place during or after the laying
of a complete vertical row.
FrameworkThe support shall be of ventilated plywood or
continuous fi r wood timbers. The support shall be rigid
and continuous for all parts where DEXTER elements are
installed. There is no more than a 5-mm difference in
height (fl ush tolerance) between the support’s
components at their junction. There should be no
protruding elements on the support, e.g., screws or
nails that could damage the underside of the zinc.
The plywood minimum thickness shall be 15 mm for
cladding and 19 mm for roofi ng. The support shall also
meet the loading requirements in conformity with a
minimum pull-out strength of 50 daN for each of the
fi xing clips, provided that the entire support transmit
the cumulated load of all fi xing clips to the structure.
