Welcome to the PRE SPREE GUIDE Please read through this guide before Spree, as that will help you get the most from the weekend.

You probably don’t need to print this whole document. Have a look through and just print the pages you need, like the map of how to get to site. Printed copies of the full Spree Guide will be provided in your Group’s Welcome Pack when you arrive on site and will contain further information about site safety and rules etc. You will also receive printed Pocket Guides for everyone in your group, which will include a final activity programme and map. Stay in touch… If you have any questions about Spree, or you need to amend your booking in any way please get in touch: Email: [email protected] Telephone (office hours): 01582 589850 ask for Vicky or Dan And please pray… Without prayer at the heart of Spree all we have is a fun weekend away for young people. We want Spree to have a longer lasting impact than that. Please join us in prayer for the whole weekend – for the team, for the activities, for the service crew, the leaders and of course the young people. Why not join in with our 50 days of prayer for Spree South East. Follow @spreesoutheast on Twitter, or download the prayer guide from the www.urbansaints.org/spreese/pray Page 3 Things to do before you leave home Page 4&5 Address and map for the Spree site Page 6&7 Arrival information and details for vehicles and parking Page 8 Things to do when you arrive Page 9 Info Point, Leaders Briefings and Prayer, Site Tour Page 10 For your caterers, Activities information Page 11 Current Activities programme Page 12 Olympic Activities Page 13 Site Map

Things to do before you leave home

Email [email protected] with any changes to your group booking. □

Ensure everyone aged 18 or over who will be staying on site has provided the necessary details and paperwork to request or confirm their enhanced CRB disclosure.

□ Check you have a completed Parental Consent form for anyone coming with your group who is under 18 years old (including group helpers and service crew). You will need to bring your Parental Consent Forms to the Registration Desk or the Info Point during the weekend so that they can be scanned.

□ Complete the “Safety Register” for your group and bring three copies with you to Spree. One copy is for you to keep hold of for the weekend. Two copies of the Safety Sheet must be handed in to the Registration Desk by 9pm on Friday. The Safety Register needs to list everybody from your group actually on site at Spree – this might of course be different from your list of bookings. Download the Safety Register: PDF: www.urbansaints.org/spreese/safetyregisterpdf Excel: www.urbansaints.org/spreese/safetyregisterexcel

Ensure all drivers and parents have the address and map for Spree. Ensure those that need them have one of the Friday Site Passes for your group to allow their vehicle onto the camp site to unload. (Site passes will be sent to the main booking contact about a week before Spree.)

□ Pack a fire extinguisher and a fire blanket. This is compulsory and you may be asked to show them on arrival. □ If the weather looks good remind your campers and Leaders to bring sun cream and a sun hat, if it looks bad remind them to bring coats and boots. Knowing the UK weather we suggest you do both!

Arrival Information For groups wanting to set up tents in advance of the young people arriving, you can arrive from 12 noon on Friday 13th July. Access will be subject to the site being ready and there could be a delay. Please note that there will be limited facilities available until later in the afternoon. Please contact a member of the Site Services team on arrival to be shown where to pitch your tents. All groups have been allocated a coloured camp zone, which will be confirmed shortly before Spree. Groups are welcome from 3.00pm but activities will not start until around 4.30pm. Copies of the programme will be given to you in your welcome pack when you arrive. There is also a copy at the end of this document.

Vehicles and Parking Generators and motor-homes are not permitted at Spree. If your group wish to bring a caravan please contact us for further information.

With hundreds of young people and cars on site please drive carefully, observe the road signs including the one way system and keep your speed to no more than 5 mph. Please note that cars and their contents are parked at the owners’ risk.

ON FRIDAY:

When you enter the school drive you’ll find the entrance to the camp site at the end of the trees on the right-hand side. All vehicles must stop at the entrance.

Vehicles arriving to drop off will be directed to a drop off parking area.

If you are arriving by coach please ask your driver to drop you off on the drive just past the lodge on the left hand side. Coaches must not go onto the grass.

Vehicles arriving for the weekend will be directed to the main car park area, unless they have a Friday Site Pass, allowing them temporary access to the camp site to unload.

Vehicles on the camp site should not be left blocking fire lanes and must be moved to the main car park area as soon as they are unloaded.

All vehicles must be off the camp site by 9pm.

We will be have an overflow car park, but this will be further from your tent.

DURING THE WEEKEND:

Vehicles needing access to or from the main car park must go via the Site Services and Security Lodge.

Page 7: PRE SPREE GUIDE

ON SUNDAY:

No vehicles will be allowed on to the camp site until the Tug-o-War competition has finished, at around 1:15pm. After this time, vehicles displaying a Sunday Site Pass will be permitted on to the camp site, via the Site Services and Security Lodge. The Sunday Site Pass must be displayed in the vehicle until you leave the site. The programme finishes at 3.30pm on the Sunday. This should be the time given to parents who are collecting young people from Spree. SITE PASSES: The number of Site Passes allocated to your group depends on the number of people you have in your group. We are operating this system to restrict the number of vehicles on the camp site for safety reasons.

Things to do when you arrive

The team will come and find you once you arrive on site. You will be given your Welcome Pack, including wristbands and pocket guides for the number of people you have booked and paid for. Any queries, changes or outstanding payments should be brought to the Registration Desk in the Leaders’ Lounge. Brief your group on the fire evacuation procedures and site rules and hand out the wristbands to all of your group young people. Wristbands must be worn at all times throughout the weekend.

□ Hand your Safety Checklist and 2 copies of your Safety Register in to the Registration Desk in the Leaders Lounge. These must be handed in by 9pm. □ Unpack your vehicles and take them to the main car park as soon as possible. All vehicles must be off the camp site by 9pm. □ Put up your tents. Ensure that your cook-tent is pitched on the outside edge of your camping zone (i.e. next to a fire lane.) Tents/guy ropes must not cross the white lines. □ Attach the Night Contact tags from your Welcome Pack to the entrance of one of the tents in your group. □ Send your Service Crew to the Registration Desk (they should probably have their tents up first!) □ Sign your group up in the Leaders’ Lounge for Team Sports they wish to take part in. □ Tours of the site will begin at the Leaders’ Lounge at 6pm for anyone who wants help to find their way around. □ At 6.30pm, ensure at least one Leader attends the Leaders’ Briefing in the Leaders’ Lounge. □ Get your group together for a photo to enter into the “tents up photo competition”. Email your photo to [email protected], or tweet @spreesoutheast □

Grab a burger and chill-out! □

There will not be a separate spiritual meeting for Leaders as we would like to encourage you all to go to the main meetings with your campers and be prepared to support those up front if needed. For Your Caterers ICE PACKS We will allow you to store Ice Packs in the schools freezers. Ice Packs must be marked with your group name and handed into the Info Point for freezing. Urban Saints will not be liable for any that go missing. Please avoid dropping off and collecting them during meal times to avoid congestion in the kitchen. DELIVERIES Should you wish to have your groceries delivered you should ensure that you notify Security and advise the delivery company to report to the Site Services and Security Lodge on arrival. We will put a call out for you when they arrive and the van can be escorted by you into the car park to off load but must not go onto the camp site.

Activities This year we have gone a bit Olympic crazy with the activities. There will be a competition running all weekend with the coloured camping zones competing against each other, meaning smaller groups will not be disadvantaged. The list of events is below and will be on display in the info point. Hopefully it includes something to suit everyone - not just sports. More details of all the activities will be explained during the Leaders' briefings over the weekend. In the Welcome Pack we give you when you arrive you will find details of the pre-bookable activities your group has been allocated (swimming, HeadHunters, archery or shooting). It is really important to ensure that your group keep to your allotted times for these activities. Ensure you allow enough time to get ready and are at the venue on time. There is a tight timescale to fit everybody in, and those arriving late may not be able to take part. Please speak to your group in advance about which sports tournaments they would like to enter, and then sign up on Friday in the Leaders' Lounge. We are running the usual competitions:

Football for school years 4-6, 7&8 and 9-11 Unihoc for school years 4-6, 7&8 and 9-11 Basketball for 9-11 and not forgetting the famous Tug of War for mixed ages.

Glee@Spree is back too! So start rehearsing now - singing, dancing, comedy; whatever talent you have. Again, sign up on Friday evening.
