A visual representa.on of the clips you are going to film for your produc.on. Pros: It shows you in detail what you wish to film, what the camera will be doing and what effects, ligh.ng or audio will be added or taken away. Cons: If you choose to hand draw your storyboard then it can become very hard to understand. Opinion: I find that storyboards can be and are very useful when filming, however they are very long and fiddly to complete.
The call sheet tells every one who is taking part in the filming (whether it is ac.ng, filming or working the audio) When and where the filming will be done. It also has vital informa.on such as aGre, weather, travel info, contact details (phone numbers) and catering (if any). Pros: It gives every one who is taking part a plan to work by, this makes the en.re day more organized. Cons: IF you are working with some one that you do not par.cularly like and who doesn’t par.cularly like you they will now have your number and or email. Opinion: The call sheet is a good way of organizing What you wish to film however some people can be hesitant to give you their numbers and or emails for the contact details.
The Gant chart is a organized .meline for your en.re filming project. This is exactly what it says on the .n, how much money you have, how much you are spending o each individual thing and how much you have for any hick ups or unexpected expenses. Pros: It allows you to manage your money safely and effec.vely. Cons: there can more unexpected expenses then you prepare for or you can run out of money for another reason. Opinion: This can really help manage the amount of money you have to spend on things.
This is a checklist of things you will need such as, filming equipment, actors and props. Pros: This is very useful for staying organized and on track with your filming. Cons: You might not be able to acquire everything you need for a days filming. Opinion: This is useful to keep track of what you are borrowing; however it isn’t so good at keeping track of where you have put things. Misplacing items can happen.
The loca.on recce is a detailed analysis of the loca.on you will be using to film, either a s a back drop or the foreground. Pros: It gives the actors something to go by in terms of space, ligh.ng and sound. Cons: Unless they can get to the area they only have pictures to go by. Opinion: This can be useful if you are able to add a mass amount of detail to your pictures.
This is a bird’s eye view of where you will be filming and where you actors will move around. Pros: can clearly lie out the actor’s movement and placement, as well as the space available and camera movement. Cons: If you aren’t able to read the overhead diagram then it can be very confusing. Opinion: these can be very helpful, however they are hard to make both informa.ve and understandable.

This is a release agreement that you get your actors to sign; it allows you to use their image and voice in a video. Pros: This allows you to use the image and voice of your actors. Cons: If you are asked to make the video privet you have to do so, this makes it hard for others to access the video. Opinion: again, this helps with the legal side of the work.
This is a shot by shot list of actor’s lines and movement in each sec5on of the video. Pros: It informs the actors of their movements and lines. Cons: Can be empty it there are no speaking rolls in your video. Opinion: the script can be good if you have speaking rolls.
A list of each shot, its dura5on and stage direc5ons. Pros: This gives a more simplified version of the storyboard, easier to understand for some actors. Cons: It is incredibly simple and can just be a waist of 5me. Opinion: Can be useful for someone who is not familiar with the film.
This is essen5ally a storyboard without pictures. Pros: Incredibly simple and easy to make. Cons: Can be too simple and confuse people whom do not know how it is used. Opinion: it seams like a waist of 5me, it is just a copy and paste version of the storyboard.
A list of shots, Takes scenes and my own notes. Pros: Gives others a quick run down of your own opinions on each shot. Cons: it is very opinionated. Opinion: Doesn’t seam as though it would help, as it is make from your own opinion.
