Thanksgiving Thank God I’ve completed another 2-year

term on FLC’s Management Committee. I really counted this as a blessing that I could serve on this Committee to support FLC while I’m in retirement. Since I retired from full-time ministry, many times when I began to run out of work, I quickly prayed to God that he would give me some new ministries so I might still bear fruit in his works. One of these prayers was answered two years ago when I was approached to rejoin this Committee. I hope I can still serve on this Committee for another term before my arthritis catches me up.

Working closely together with our Centre Director and Centre Accountant who sit in the regular Committee meetings, this Committee consists of five members:

1. a young experienced corporate strategist, 2. a retired project manager, 3. a human resources management

professional, 4. a young pastor, and 5. myself, a retired pastor. I must thank our LORD for the provision

of these different experts and, in turn, for their support for FLC, particularly the hard work during the open day in October for our new West Ryde Centre. There were so much works and efforts in the preparation, running and closing of this event.

Just to let you in a small secret, I don’t usually chair the Committee meetings. I mostly delegated the chairing of the meetings to our young pastor while I would give a devotional sharing at the beginning of each meeting to encourage the team.

education services to more Chinese churches in Sydney. As a result, I started to approach our supporting churches to allow us to share our work in their ministry meetings particularly in their Sunday services.

For this purpose, our corporate strategist Committee member researched our counselling statistical data, especially of the past ten years, and then reported on the analysis of these data. The finding was that there has definitely been a paradigm shift in the counselling needs among our Chinese migrant communities during our past 19 years. This finding highlighted the fact that FLC would need more support from our churches in order to improve our services to our communities. We hope to have more opportunities to visit many more Chinese churches and share this finding as well as the related messages in our Lord’s Word.

Looking AheadWe shall celebrate FLC’s 20th birthday next

year. May He guide us to look hard and long into the future to see what we should pray and develop for our next milestone.

May He give us more dedicated FLC supporters; so we may have:

• more FLC members,• more dedicated Christian counsellors and

educators,• staff members with Mandarin background,

and• more Management Committee members;so that FLC can make a bigger impact on our

Chinese communities.

Counsellors - Expression of InterestFirst Light Care is an independent Christian charity that promotes better interpersonal relationships, personal development, marital growth and healthy family lives in the Chinese and the wider Australian communities through professional counselling, education and training.

We sincerely invite interested bilingual Christian counselling professionals who commit to share FLC’s vision and mission to join our team. We'd like to hear from you if you:

- speak fluent English AND Mandarin and/or Cantonese,

- have a good understanding of Chinese culture,

- possess a recognised tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy or other related mental health disciplines, and

- are eligible for membership with an appropriate and recognised professional body.

感謝神！我在晨光關懷協會管理委員會完成

了兩年任期。我確實的數算恩典：自己在退休之

年，仍能在委員會事奉，支持晨光的事工。你知

道嗎？當我踏進退休期之後，很多次我手上已

沒有什麼工作，於是我就快快祈求神給我新的事

工，叫我仍然得享充實工作的成果；我其中的一

個請求，就在兩年前蒙神答允：我受邀加入這委

員會。我期望在我未被風濕痛迫近之前，仍能在

委員會事奉多一個任期。

管理委員會除了中心總監和中心會計師列席

外，現有五個委員：

1.  富有經驗的年輕企業策劃師

2.  已退休的項目經理

3.  人力資源管理專業人士

4.  年輕的牧者和

5.  我這個退休的牧師。

我必要感謝神供應各有專長的上述成員及他們

對晨光的支持；尤其是他們在去年十月西懷德新中

心開放日，節目籌備、進行和總結的辛勤付出。

告訴你們一個小秘密，我通常在委員會會議

時，將主席責任交給這年輕的牧者，而我只是在開

會之前為與會者作靈修分享。

事 工

過往一年，委員會決定將晨光輔導及預防教育

服務，推廣到更多在悉尼的華人教會。因此，我開

始向支持晨光事工的教會，提出在他們的事務會議

或主日崇拜中，容許我們分享晨光的工作。

為此緣故，我們這位有企業策劃專才的委員，

將晨光輔導服務統計數據紀錄，特別是過去十年的

數據資料，作詳細分析並報告。研究結果顯示，華

人移民社群在過去十九年，需求模式明顯轉變。晨

光因此更需要華人教會的支持，務求改善我們為社

區提供的服務。我們希望有更多機會，造訪其他華

人教會，分享這些分析結果，並神在當中給我們的

信息。

前 瞻

明年晨光將慶祝服務社群廿周年。求神帶領我

們切實用心遠眺將來，叫我們懂得如何禱告及發展

一個新的里程碑。

求主賜我們更多投入的支持者，叫我們有:

•  更多晨光會員、

•  更多忠心的輔導員和教育工作者、

•  普通話背景的同工、

Evelene is at present based overseas but continues to provide clinical psychological and counselling services via Skype calls to fee-paying non-Medicare clients, inside and outside Australia.

Special Concession: Counselling fees for the first two sessions will be charged at a special rate of $55 per session, until further notice.

You may speak to Evelene from your own home/location if you have access to the internet and the use of a computer or a tablet or a smart phone for Skype calls. It may incur phone or data costs.

1. Give thanks for the election of Pastor Devin Yu and other management committee members for the new Management Committee at the Annual General Meeting on 14/10/2017. Please pray that they will lead effectively and develop the ministry in the next two years to better serve the community.

5. Please pray for good health for the staff team so that they can continue to serve with strength.

晨光20周年感恩籌款晚會FlC 20th Anniversary thanksgiving & Fundraising dinner「晨光20 周年感恩籌款晚會」將於2018年4月8日(星期日)舉行。為慶祝晨光成立 20周年，余德淳博士亦特別應邀蒞臨悉尼參與

這次慶典，支持晨光服事社群的事工。是次

籌款晚會所有奉獻收益將成為晨光的營運

經費。晨光的心理、婚姻及家庭輔導服務於

1997年起，每年幫助數以百計的人仕，特別提供免費或減費給低收入人仕及家庭，以基

督的精神，造福社會。此項事工實在有賴社

會各界人士不斷的支持及代禱，請各界朋友

一同參與此次難得的盛會！

This dinner will be held on Sunday, 8 April 2018. Dr Charles Yu has kindly accepted our invitation to come to Sydney to participate in this special event to support this community service ministry. All proceeds will be dedicated to FLC’s operation fund. Called to serve the benefit of society in the spirit of Christ, FLC started its psychological, marriage and family counselling services in 1997 and has helped hundreds of people each year since, in particular the low-income persons and families who are provided the service free or on reduced fees. The ministry relies on the community for continued support and prayers and we invite all our friends in the community to participate in this unique event!

余德淳博士 於 一九九二年榮獲香港第一屆優秀社工

獎，曾為港大社會科學碩士並香港心理治療團體學會會

長及國 際壓力管理學會會員。過去任教於香港理工大

學，逾廿年為商界、學界及公務員培訓處主持數百個EQ及AQ工作坊。

Dr. Charles Yu is widely known as an expert authority in applied psychology and Emotional Intelligence (EQ). He began his specialization in EQ Training after five years of teaching in the Applied Social Studies Department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he also undertook research in psychotherapy applications and EQ. He was awarded the first Outstanding Social Worker of the Year Award in 1992 and also the Chairman of the Hong Kong Group Therapy Association.
