ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN:

Management

Drilling will be done with water injection system & dust

collector.

Water sprinkling will be done during loading points / haul roads

2 Water Quality

No waste water will be generated during mining operation

Septic tanks and soak pits will be provided for the disposal of

domestic effluents generated from mine office.

Garland drains will be provided at the toe of dumps to prevent the

entry of rainwater into the mining pit.

Rainwater falling in the mining pit will be collected in lower

benches & will be used for dust suppression & green belt.

Regular monitoring of ground water quality will be carried out.

3 Noise Quality

Management

Drilling will be carried out with the drills having sharp drill bits

for noise reduction.

Control Blasting will be carried out.

Earmuffs/earplugs will be provided to all operators and

employees working near the machinery.

Adequate silencers with AC cabins will be provided in Heavy

Earth Moving Machines.

Proper maintenance, oiling and greasing of machines at regular

intervals will be done to reduce generation of noise.

Green Belt will be developed around the lease boundary, haul

roads and plantation will be done on undisturbed area, reclaimed

area & mine office etc.

Periodical monitoring will be done.

4 Solid Waste

Management

Top soil will be separately stacked & simultaneously used for

plantation purpose.

OB generated will be temporary stacked in eastern side of non

mineralized area which will be backfilled in excavated area &

rehabilitated by plantation at the conceptual stage.

5 Plantation Green Belt will be developed around the lease boundary, haul

roads and plantation will be done on undisturbed area, reclaimed

area, nearby workshop & mine office etc.

Local species will be planted after consultation with local forest

officer and as per CPCB guidelines

2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/ BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

(i) Identification of project and project proponent:

The Karodikala metal stone Quarry Village - Karodikala, Tehsil- Barhi , District-

(ii) Brief description of nature of the project:

The Karodikala metal stone Quarry (deposit) Lease has been in favour of Shri

Surendra Kumar Tiwari vide Order no 1152/Khanij/ /U.P./2011dated 21/03/2012

from the date of Agreement.

(iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country:

With respect to the importance of the project to the nation, it can be well said that in a

developing nation like India, cement is essential for infrastructural development.

Thus, keeping in mind this requirement, mining of Stone boulder is essential for the

nation`s growth.

Shri Surendra Kumar Tiwari has proposed stone Quarry project in order to meet the

requirement of Metal Stone for the construction railway track and building

construction projects of nearby district.

(iv) Demand supply gap:

Shri Surendra Kumar Tiwari has proposed Stone quarry will meet the

requirement/demand of Stone boulder for the construction of railway track. and

building construction projects of nearby district.

(v) Imports vs. Indigenous production:

As the stone availability from indigenous sources, the import of the same is not

required.

(vi) Export possibility

There is no export possibility as these minerals are quite cheap and locally available

in abundance.

(vii) Domestic / Export Markets:

These Metal Stone boulders have only domestic /govt. department market as such will

be consumed accordingly.

(viii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project:

Direct and indirect employment will be generated due to the project. Unskilled / semi

Skilled manpower can be sourced from the local area and skilled manpower will be

sourced from outside. At present about 10 manpower including technical, supervisory

staff, wage board employees, officers and staff will be engaged in the mining

activities.

3.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Interlinked Project:

There is no interlinked or interdependent project based on mineral produced. Stone

boulder after sorting and sizing will be sold directly to railways and in open market.

As this is a site specific mining project and the site has been selected as metal stone is

available in this area & lease has been sanctioned by collector Jabalpur in the name of

Shri Surendra Kumar Tiwari vide their 1152/Khanij/ /U.P./2011dated 21/03/2012. over

an area of 1.90Hect. of 10 years. from due date. Therefore no alternative site has been

selected.

(iv) Size or magnitude of operation:

METHOD OF MINING:

Mining will be carried out by opencast- semi mechanized method added by deploying

required equipments and machinery for excavation, drilling, blasting, loading and

transportation. All operations of mining will be done by heavy earth moving machineries for

excavation, loading & transport. Various mining activities such drilling, blasting, loading and

transportation will be so conducted as to ensure maximum mineral conservation and

minimum environmental degradation.

Sequence of Mining:

I. Top soil and OB removal:

Top soil is not present in the area soil will be import for plantation.

II. Drilling:

Drilling will be carried out with the help of sharp drill bits for noise reduction.

Drilling will be done with water injection system & dust collector.

III. Blasting:

Control Blasting will be carried out.

IV. Loading:

Stone Boulder from quarries will be loaded by loader /poclain ..

V. Transportation:

Excavated stone boulder will be transported to construction unit by hired trucks and

dumpers.

(vi) Raw material required along with estimated quantity, likely source, marketing

area of final products, mode of transport of raw material and finished product:

This is a stone boulder Mining project, thus no raw material is required.

Metal stone boulder produce from the lease area will be used in construction works.

The stone boulder is brought to the stacking site by trucks and mechanically loaded .

Excavated stone boulder will be transported to construction sites by hired trucks and

dumpers.

(vii) Resources optimization/ recycling and reuse envisaged in the project, if any,

should be briefly outlined:

No waste water will be generated during mining operation

Domestic waste water generated from mine office will be disposed in soak pits via

septic tank

Top soil will be stacked separately if encountered and will be simultaneously used in

plantation.

Waste overburden will be used in Road construction.

(viii) Availability of water its source, energy /power requirement and source:

A. Water Requirement:

Total Water requirement for the mining project will be 6 KLD which will be

purchased from nearby village panchayat sources.

B. Fuel & Power Requirement:

The electric power is not used for the process of mining. Only HSD Fuel is required

for operating excavator/loaders, dumpers & pumps etc.

(ix) Quantity of waste to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their

management/disposal:

Occasional soil is present in the area soil will be import for plantation.

No waste water will be generated during mining operation.

Domestic wastewater generated from mines office will be disposed off in soak pit via

septic tank.

4.0 SITE ANALYSIS

(i) Connectivity:

The Q.L. area is located at a distance of 39 km. East of Katni Approach from Katni to

quarry area is as follows. Distance from Katni to village Karondikala is 40 km. East of Katni.

Form Village-Karondikala to Barhi is 6 Km and from Barhi to quarry area distance is 6.0 km.

of 6 km. in Barhi which is located towards Northeast of the Q.L. area. The area falls under

jurisdiction of police Barhi located at a distance of 6 km. northeast of the Q.L. area. Nearest

railway station is Katni located at a distance of 39 km. west of Q.L. area. Schooling facility,

medical facility, post office and telegram facility are available in village Barhi located at a

distance of 6 km. Northeast of the quarry area.

(ii) Land form, land use and land ownership:

Total Mining lease area is 1.90 hatc which Govt. land

(iii) Topography:

Topographically the lease area is having almost flat area. Highest elevation of

the applied area is 389 m above MSL, located along the southwestern and lowest

elevation is 388 m. situated on Northeastern part of the area. Difference between

highest and lowest elevation of the area is about 1m.

(iv) Existing land use pattern (agriculture, non-agriculture, forest, water bodies

(including area under CRZ)), shortest distances from the periphery of the

project to periphery of the forests, national park, wild life sanctuary, eco

sensitive areas, water bodies (distance from the HFL of the river), CRZ:

(vi) Soil Classification:

Soil is Basaltic it supports Cultivation.

(vii) Climatic data from secondary sources:

The area experiences sub- tropical with an annual average rainfall of 1200 mm.

climatic conditions. The temperature reaches up to 46°C during summer whereas

during winter it goes down to 4°C.

The wind generally blows in NE direction from November to February, The area

experience a pleasant weather, summer starts from March to June and monsoon sets

by end of June up to September.

Relative humidity varies between 18% to 80%.

(viii) Social Infrastructure Available:

The site is well connected with social infrastructure facilities like medical, post office,

schools, police stations etc. and as such, no constraints are envisaged in this aspect as

the Tehsil and District headquarter is near to the site.

Total Mining lease area is 1.90ha which is Private waste land.

(iv) Assessment of infrastructure demand (physical & social):

The applicant has assessed the demand of infrastructure (Physical & Social) in nearby

Area of the mine site and same will be developed under social responsibilities

programs.

(v) Amenities / Facilities:

The applicant will develop the Amenities/Facilities in the nearby area of the proposed

mine site as per requirement of local people of the nearby area under social

responsibilities program.

6.0 PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE:

(i) Industrial Area (Processing Area):

Quarry lease area is 1.90ha and required infrastructure stone boulder mining activities

will be provided.

(ii) Residential Area (Non Processing Area):

This is not required as mine workers will come from nearby villages.

(iii) Green Belt Development:

Green Belt will be developed around the lease boundary, haul roads and plantation

will be done on undisturbed area, reclaimed area & mine office etc .Local species will

be planted after consultation with local forest officer and as per CPCB guidelines.

(iv) Social Infrastructure:

Proposed mining project will result in growth of the surrounding areas by increased

direct and indirect employment including ancillary development and supporting

infrastructure.

(v) Connectivity (traffic and transportation road/rail/metro/water Ways etc):

The Q.L. area is located at a distance of 39 km. East of Katni Approach from Katni to

quarry area is as follows. Distance from Katni to village Karondikala is 40 km. East of Katni.

6 KLD water will be required for this mining project which will be sourced from

nearby villages.

(vii) Sewerage System:

The waste water generated from mine and utilities will be disposed in soak pit via

septic tank.

(viii) Industrial Waste Management:

There will be no workshop so no waste water will be generated.

(ix) Solid Waste Management:

No soil generation during proposed mining.

No waste water will be generated during mining operation.

Domestic wastewater generated from mines office will be disposed off in soak pit via

septic tank.

(x) Power Requirement & Supply/Source:

Power will not be required as workings will be in day shift only.

7.0 REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R & R) PLAN:

(i) Policy to be adopted (central/state)in respect of the project affected persons

including home out sees, land out sees and Landless labourers:

Total Quarry lease area is 1.90ha which is Govt. waste land.

8.0 PROJECT SCHEDULE & COST ESTIMATES:

(i) Likely date of start of construction and likely date of completion (time schedule

for the project to be given):

The quarry will start after obtaining Environmental Clearance from SEIAA, MP.

(ii) Estimated project cost along with analysis in terms of economic viability of the

project:

Total cost of the Project is: Rs. 20Lacs/-

Cost for Environment Protection for the Proposed Project:

Capital cost –Rs20 Lacs /-

Recurring cost- Rs 2 Lacs per Annum

9.0 ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATION):

(i) Financial and social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local

people including tribal population if any:

Stone boulder mining project will result in growth of the surrounding areas by

increasing direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region including

ancillary development and supporting infrastructure. Special emphasis on Financial

and Social benefits will be given to the local people including tribal population, if

any, in the area. Development of social amenities will be in the form of medical

facilities, education to underprivileged and creation of self help groups.

No major adverse effect on environment is envisaged as the required mitigation

measures are inbuilt in the project.
