John 8:1-6 (NLT) Jesus returned to the Mount of Olives,

but early the next morning he was back again at the Temple. A crowd soon gathered, and he sat down and

taught them. As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the act of adultery. They put her in

front of the crowd. "Teacher," they said to Jesus, "this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?" They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down

and wrote in the dust with his finger.

Page 3: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

John 8:7-11 (NLT) They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up

again and said, "All right, stone her. But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!"

Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, "Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?"

"No, Lord," she said. And Jesus said, "Neither do I. Go and sin no more."

short time.

Sin will never satisfy! In the end, the happiness becomes sadness, the thrill becomes a nightmare, the

pleasure becomes an addiction. Sin never keeps its promises.

promotion and fame.

Sin enslaves, and it does so in Sin enslaves, and it does so in at least three ways: at least three ways:

1.1. Sin enslaves to itselfSin enslaves to itself

Sin leads to more sins and to Sin leads to more sins and to worse sins, each one more worse sins, each one more entrapping and more binding than entrapping and more binding than the last (Proverbs 5:22).the last (Proverbs 5:22).

6. SIN STEALS JOY6. SIN STEALS JOYYou have made known to me the path of

life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your

right hand. Psalm 16:11

JOY is the most perfect sign of the presence of God.” Sin drive that presence away!

Page 17: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Sin steals something that all the money in the world

cannot buy- joy.

Page 18: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

7. SIN STEALS OUR 7. SIN STEALS OUR CONFIDENCE BEFORE GODCONFIDENCE BEFORE GOD

Sin steals all purity and innocence, making us uneasy

with people and uncomfortable with God.

Page 19: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Genesis 3:6-9 (NIV) When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was

good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her,

and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for

themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the

man, "Where are you?"

COMECOMEIsaiah 1:18-20 (NIV)

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are

willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword." For the mouth of the

LORD has spoken.

Page 21: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Revelation 3:4-6 (NIV) Yet you have a few people in Sardis who

have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are

worthy. He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his

name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels. He who has an ear, let him hear

what the Spirit says to the churches.

““Who knows the power of your Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due you. Teach as the fear that is due you. Teach us to number our days aright, that us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

9. SIN HURTS THE LORD9. SIN HURTS THE LORDWhen you sin, you wound your Savior and spit in His face, making a mockery of His

love and denying your very words of devotion and praise.

Your sin stings JESUS!Our disobedience causes Him grief (Genesis 6:6; Luke 19:41-

44)

Page 24: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

10. SIN HURTS THE SINNER10. SIN HURTS THE SINNER

The fact is, if you keep on sinning, it will haunt you and hunt you until it hurts you.

Page 25: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Proverbs 4:18-19 (NIV) The path of the righteous is like the

first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know

what makes them stumble.

Page 26: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Galatians 6:7-9 (NLT) Don't be misled. Remember that you can't

ignore God and get away with it. You will always reap what you sow!

Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay

and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a

harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

Page 27: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

11. SIN HURTS THE SINNER’S 11. SIN HURTS THE SINNER’S FAMILY AND FRIENDSFAMILY AND FRIENDS

The sin that is in one man’s heart is able to infect a whole world, it is of such a

spreading and infectious nature. No one is an island when it comes to sin.

Your sin can affect your family and all those who are attached to you.

Page 28: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Hebrews 12:15 (NLT) Look after each other so that none of you will miss out on the special favor of God. Watch out that no bitter root of unbelief rises up among you, for whenever it springs up, many are

corrupted by its poison.

Page 29: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

12. SIN PUTS THE SINNER ON THE SIDE 12. SIN PUTS THE SINNER ON THE SIDE OF THE DEVIL, DEMONS AND THE OF THE DEVIL, DEMONS AND THE

WORLDWORLD

When we sin, we join forces with hell and become accomplices of the devil.“If you belonged to the world, it would

love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you

out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” - John 15:19

Page 30: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

1 John 3:8-10 (NLT) But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since

the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil.

Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they

can't keep on sinning, because they have been born of God. So now we can tell who are

children of God and who are children of the Devil. Anyone who does not obey God's

commands and does not love other Christians does not belong to God.

Page 31: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

““You adulterous people, don’t You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”enemy of God.”

James 4:4

13. SIN BLOCKS THE BLESSINGS 13. SIN BLOCKS THE BLESSINGS AND THE PROMISES OF GODAND THE PROMISES OF GOD

““See, I am setting before you today a See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse –the blessing if you blessing and a curse –the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today; the curse if you that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of the Lord your God disobey the commands of the Lord your God and turn from the way that I command you and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you today by following other gods, which you have not known.”have not known.”

Deuteronomy 11:26-28Deuteronomy 11:26-28

Page 33: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Deuteronomy 28:15-16 (NIV) However, if you do not obey the

LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.

Page 34: Pre Encounter Lesson 6: Go and Sin No More

Deuteronomy 28:1-3 (NIV) If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set

you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you

and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in

the city and blessed in the country.
