Calculationss
• 75-63/2=6…….Amplitude• 75+63/2=69…..Vertical Shift • ∏/6(2)=∏/3……Phase shift• Y=6cos(∏/6x- ∏/3)+69
• Y=6cos(∏/6(8.96)- ∏/3)+69

• y= 6cos(∏/6x-∏/3)+69

How we got our function • To find the Amplitude we subtracted the
highest temperature and the lowest temperature from the average year. We took the difference and divided by 2. (75-63=12….12/2=6) y= 6cos(∏/6x-∏/3)+69
• To find the phase shift we had to use the equation 2pi/µ. µ is always before the X in the equation. Our equation would look like this 2 ∏/ ∏/6= ∏/3….. y= 6cos(∏/6x-∏/3)+69.
• Finally to calculate our Vertical shift we added 75+63=138 (again these are the highest average temp and the lowest average temp) and we divided by 2 …. 138/2=69 ….. y= 6cos(∏/6x-∏/3)+69
y= 6cos(∏/6x-∏/3)+69

Weather on August 30
![Page 7: Pre Calculus -Cosine function](https://reader035.vdocuments.mx/reader035/viewer/2022081511/5529a86c5503463e2e8b4869/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Weather calculation
• August is the 8th month and our holiday is on the 30th of August. The month has 31 days. We do 8 plus 30th day divided by 31 days. 8+(30/31)= 278/31.
• Converted to decimal it’s 8.96• Substitute for X• Y=6cos(∏/6(8.96)- ∏/3)+69= 63.74

La Niña and El Niño Effects
• Commercial fishing tend to have higher catches during La Niña than El Niño. • Pollution increases in August
