Before going to a Career Fair, it is wise to do research about the positions. Familiarize yourself with job

descriptions and requirements for said positions. Doing research before hand makes asking questions easier,

gives the perception that you are genuinely interested in the position, and that you cared enough to research

the company. This will save the recruiter from having to repeat facts about the company that any serious

candidate should know prior to the Career Fair.

A little networking goes a long way.

Talking to people can easily turn into an opportunity.

There are Six-degrees of separation between everyone in the world. Never bad mouth anyone, you never know who may know them.

Business cards are a great way to spark up conversation and network in a non traditional business setting.

Twitter is a social networking tool that is designed to answer “What are you doing”.

Friends are called Followers, and are given access to your real time updates or “tweets”

Things that you tweet can be recovered via most search engines, even if they are deleted by the user.

Twit-ternships are now being offered for students to tweet about company changes.

WHO IS JON NEGRINI WHAT IS HARO?

I selected Jon Negrini to conduct my PR Professional

Interview. Jon is Public Relations graduate from Florida

State University. He now works as an internet marketing

specialist at SMTUSA.com. According to the website, the

Sales & Marketing Technologies’ (SMT) is composed of

an expert team of internet marketing, web design and

development professionals. SMT, which is based out of

Florida, promises to deliver breakthrough results from the

Internet and is considered a traffic-building, conversion-

making, ROI-boosting web machine.

HARO, or www.helpareporter.com is a site where journalist and media can go to get information about certain things. Their slogan is “Everyone is an expert at something,” and they send out daily emails to sources that volunteer on the site. Within these emails they list 15-20 questions they have been asked from journalists, and if you know the answer to one of the questions, you send a reply email back with the answer. The answer is then forwarded on to the person who asks the question and makes finding sources and experts much easier on journalists.
