SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING Safe Environment Training for new volunteers on Tuesday, October 10th at 6:00pm, in the West classroom. If you have signed up to volunteer in any OLOL ministry or are planning to soon, this training is required prior to volunteering. If you are already an ac ve volunteer and took the founda onal class some me ago, this is a good refresher and can be used as your annual update training. The training takes about an hour. The Early Childhood Ministry is looking for volunteers to teach young families of our parish on Wednesdays from 4:15-5:30 pm. Communion to the Homebound and Nursing Homes Meeting: Tuesday October 10TH St. Peter and St. Paul room at 10:00 am. Please join us on Tuesday, October 10th at 10 am in the Peter and Paul room (on the chapel side of the sanctuary) for a meeting of Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound. We will be discussing flexible schedule options. This meeting is for current members who are available (or prefer) to serve on weekdays, as well as anyone interested in joining this rewarding ministry. Parents of children who have a free morning or two per month or who would enjoy ministering with their child In tow are welcome along with anyone who would like to brighten someone’s day by bringing them the Body of Christ. Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 1, 2017

There are so many messages presented to us in the readings for this weekend it is nearly impossible to choose just one to focus upon, but is that not somewhat akin to the choices we are presented every day? There are choices for clothes, food, paths to work in the car, which morning prayers to say, what to do about dinner tonight, is there a game or prac ce, is there a faith forma on class or rehearsal to a end? I bet you all could add to that list easily. So, what do we do about those choices? How o en do we feel powerless and on a treadmill not of our choosing? I do not have an answer for any of us, myself included. Do I choose to answer the phone or door when I hear the ringing? Do I choose to pray or not? Do I go to confess my sins regularly as I know I should? Do I speak to those I love about going to mass regularly if they have some trouble ge ng there? Am I an example of peace and jus ce and fairness to my children and grandchildren? Am I a loving spouse, even during the not so fun mes which, rarely if ever, occur? Am I a helpful worker and neighbor? Do I look for opportuni es to be a giver and not a person who watches as others get involved? Is my thinking non-judgmental and life giving? Do I speak the truth kindly when necessary or let others think everything is ok when it is not? Am I a person who stands up for right and the underprivileged and less fortunate? Do I contribute

me and talent and money to further the Church willingly or am I cheap and miserly and complain about how this or that does not meet my standards? Am I a person of joy or have I allowed my joy to be stolen by all the nega ve media or by some of my friends who are always unhappy about something? Jesus lived a humble life. His apostles were mostly hard working and fair-minded folks from humble families. They all screwed up on occasion and yet Jesus loved them uncondi onally. Jesus does the same for us. We have so many benefits and blessings and need to use them to make Jesus come alive in our homes and neighborhoods and workplaces and especially in our community of faith. Are we praying enough for those in pain and sorrow? Do we look for ways to help in the ministries at Church? Do we encourage those we meet at worship to be involved by our good example? Do we know any of the persons in the pews around us? Do we really mean the kiss of peace or is it just a meaningless ritual? Do we bless ourselves with Holy water and remember our own bap sm as we ought? Do we ever ask someone who leaves mass early why they do that? Is it more loving to ask or not? Today from 3:30 – 4:30 pm. in the music room, some of our li le ones and a parent will meet and start to work at becoming your prayer leaders at mass with their voices. Please pray for their success and all our ability to recognize Jesus when we can and do him homage as best we can. Blessings and thanks to all of you for the Jesus you are and hope to be for me. JAM SESSION On Saturday evening October 7th, at 7:00 pm, there will be an open session for any singers and instruments. Just show up and try out making music together without obliga on. Refreshments will be served.

ADULT CHOIR Vacancies are now being filled for the Adult choir serving the 10:00 am. , Sunday, Mass.

We will learn various songs, psalms, chants, and anthems from the renaissance to contemporary to aid in worship, as well as leading the assembly in their singing

Rehearsals are held on Wednesday nights from 7:00 pm—8:30 pm. All levels are welcome, and music and reading ability is op onal.

INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES An adult Instrumental ensemble is being formed to support sung worship at the 5:00 pm Mass on Saturday evenings. Likewise, a Youth Instrumental ensemble to serve at the 5:00 pm., Sunday, Mass is also being formed. Member will work together and learn to support the assembly through their mutual coopera on. Any instruments that can be made to serve the liturgical need of the mass may be used, and some skill on the chosen instrument will be expected. CHILDREN’S CHOIR The goal of this program is to teach children the language of music and ar s c expression

within the context of a Catholic Chris an community of faith. The Children’s choir rehearsals are in the prac ce room at the rear of the Sanctuary, on Sundays, from 3:30– 4:30 pm. Rehearsal will begin today, October 1st. Parents must remain with the children during rehearsal.

BEGINNING EXPEREIENCE DALLAS/ FT. WORTH
