Worship Gathering May 28, 2017

Page 2: Prayer list - WordPress.com · 5.02.2017  · 115 New allwin Road allwin, MO 63021 636.391.6697 office.lafayettechurch@gmail.com lafayettechurch.org ... Peyton uehrer is a youth ministry

Whether you are a first-time guest or have been gathering with us for some time, we are glad you are with us today. We are a family of Jesus-followers who gather each week to worship God and scatter each week to reflect God. Thanks so much for worshipping with us. Please join us in reflecting God throughout the week.

Please complete a blue guest card from the back of the worship center seats and place it in the offering tray as it passes you. We would love to be able to contact you to say hello. If you would like to know more about being a Jesus-follower, being baptized, or becoming a part of Lafayette, you are invited to meet with those in the prayer room just after the sermon. Turn left as you exit the back of the worship center; the prayer room is on the right just past the kitchen.

1 Holiday Schedule Tomorrow is Memorial Day in the USA, when people who died in service of their country are remembered. This weekend also kicks off the summer vacation season when many travel for rest and refreshment. Accordingly, Lafayette is on a holiday schedule today. Classes will not meet today, but will resume next week.

2 Shrimp boil Building relationships is important to our church family at Lafayette. Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 17 at 4:00pm when we will have a great opportunity to enjoy time with your brothers and sisters. We will be having a Lafayette Low Country Shrimp Boil. Listen and watch for details over the weeks leading up to this relationship building opportunity. This is a great time to meet new people!

3 SummerJAM 2017 It’s almost time for SummerJAM 2017! Informational brochures are available at the welcome center. See Dave Wilhelm if you want to serve.

4 Lafayette 101 Congregational communication is important to us at Lafayette. Lafayette 101 will meet the next three weeks, beginning 15 minutes after the worship gathering concludes. On June 4 Dale Lundy will report on his recent mission trip to Cambodia. On June 11 Dawn Malcolm will report on her recent trip to Burkina Faso. On June 18 Candace and Alden Bass will be here to talk about the work going on at North City.

Tomorrow people in the USA will celebrate Memorial Day, a time to remember those who died while serving in the armed forces. People will go to cemeteries and decorate the graves of those who went off to war and never returned alive. While I have a number of immediate family members who served the USA in the armed forces, I do not have any who died while serving. I do have a number of friends who lost loved ones — husbands, fathers, and brothers — while serving. Through the years I have observed their actions and words on Memorial Day. The pain of losing a loved one is lasting. The process of healing takes different paths for different people. For those who have lost loved ones while they served, my prayer is Memorial Day will be a time to remember, and to heal. And for all of us, I hope tomorrow will be a time to remember and reflect upon the price some have paid and a time to pray for peace in our world. May our memories shape our future. — Bob Clark
