Foreword

Awake my soul, awake lute and harp: for I will awaken the morning. Psalm 57:8

The liturgical sequence in Genesis to mark the beginning of God’s handiwork is “it is evening and morning the first day”. God’s steadfast love and faithfulness is at work while the “world” sleeps. Entombed in a cave, musical instruments cast aside; the darkness of despair has gripped the psalmist. The community is in chains. One thing is sure, God’s steadfast love will ensure the new day. So “awake lute and harp” let the praise begin and the voice of prayer will usher in the dawn. May the prayers we offer awaken the dawn for ourselves and for those for whom we pray. If anyone is in Christ there is a new creation:

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!
