Sharing God’s Kindness, Grace and Generosity

Do you want to know something amazing? We have 29 rooms for women and families, and they’ve ALL been adopted! All 29 rooms are being painted, cleaned, draped with soft curtains, and decorated. What a GIFT this has been to women and families who are and will be finding shelter at Water Street. Anytime we show kindness, it’s a gift. Anytime we affirm someone’s dignity, it’s a little act of grace. It’s a choice, you see, to think of someone other than yourself and be generous. We pass on a big THANK YOU to all the groups that have given so freely of their time, talent and treasures.

As a ministry, we depend on God as the Provider of all things. We believe He will sustain us, because we’ve seen His generosity thousands of times in our 110 years. Like in this story shared by one of our staff: “The women in the shelter asked at a community meeting if it would be possible to get wall clocks for their rooms. I said that I would look into it, and later that day was in Hobby Lobby and decided to see if they had any. Their clocks were all half price that week, so I decided to purchase them even though no money had been designated for the purchase. The next morning, I received a call from a woman who has helped with the Adopt-a-Room project saying that she wanted to donate $250 toward the project if I could use it. I told her about the clocks, and she mailed us the check!”

Thank you for your faithful support of the men, women and families here at Water Street. Please continue praying for opportunities for our staff and volunteers to share God’s kindness, grace and generosity in word and deed.•
