1 Praise God for the success our graduates are experiencing as they work and plan for the future.

2 Pray that God will direct us to His called people for various open staff positions.

3 Praise God for organizations that partner with Water Street Ministries to provide a multitude of services to our clients.

4 Pray strength and courage over the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces.

5 Praise God for providing financial donations that met our Match Gift, and even exceeded what we thought we would receive. It has also helped us chip away at the deficit!

6 Pray for safety for children as they are out of school for the summer.

7 Praise God for opportunities to share the love of Christ with clients.

8 Pray for those who have been abused. Pray that they would be able to break down walls of fear and find healing.

9 Praise God for a family who decided to give their first paycheck after a recent raise to God’s ministry to help the homeless and hungry.

10 Pray for men, women and families that find themselves homeless – that they would find help, hope and peace.

11 Praise God for a client that is knitting/crocheting lap blankets for a local retirement home, in spite of the fact that she is homeless.

12 Pray for healing for a resident that recently broke her leg.

13 Praise God for several interns who are serving with Water Street Ministries this summer.

14 Pray for a client who has special needs that make finding housing especially difficult.

15 Praise God for a youth group that read about Water Street Ministries’ financial needs and is raising funds to help those in need.

16 Pray for a staff person who is in the middle of chemo treatments. Pray for her strength and that the side effects would be minimal.

17 Pray for those who have addictions that hold them captive.

18 Praise God for the fresh fruits and vegetables that are being donated to help provide healthy food to our community.

19 Pray for rest and refreshment for staff vacations as they retreat from ministry.

20 Praise God for healing for a faithful volunteer who has served for almost 20 years.

21 Pray blessings over Antoine and Heather as they celebrate one month of marriage today!

22 Praise God that one of our long-term clients with special needs was able to find housing!

23 Praise God for being able to serve our community and in doing so let people know that someone loves and cares for them.

24 Pray for homes to be found for the moms with children living at the shelter this summer.

25 Pray for Mike, a Water Street guest, as he continues to share God’s story with his grandkids.

26 Pray for the men and women staying at the emergency shelter, specifically against feelings of rejection.

27 Praise God for churches that are supporting us this summer through their VBS programs.

28 Pray for the men and women staying at the emergency shelter, for God to fill them with His confidence.

29 Pray for the volunteers who serve at Water Street, that they are joyful with the talents God has given them.

30 Pray for the healing of a Water Street staff person as she fights cancer.

31 Pray discernment, wisdom and collaboration over the leadership at Water Street.

Hope in God’s Word

From the age of 19 Kevin was shooting meth into his body just to feel “filled”. He met his wife when they were young, but the only thing they had in common were drugs, sex, and a love for the same bands. At one point in life Kevin chose to live under a bridge because he wanted his only responsibility to be getting high. Over the course of his long rollercoaster journey through life, Kevin says he attempted suicide three times. It was the last time that really changed him. He planned out his suicide by building a noose in his house, and for a few days he stared at that circular death trap while his life played out like a slideshow in his mind.

Somewhere in the past he had heard about God, and he even remembered signing songs in Sunday school. In the darkness of that time, sitting in an empty house wanting to end his life, Kevin heard from God for the first time in many years. God told him to get up and go do something. He walked away from the thought of death and chose to do things differently.

Kevin says, “This [place] taught me how to have a relationship with God through Christ. The ‘through Christ’ part is really important.” He couldn’t fill his mind with psychedelics while here, so he filled his mind and soul with the word of God. He recalls reading the Bible for five hours a day during times of his stay at the Mission.

Kevin used to live by emotions, but today he says his

life is lived by truth: God’s truth that is spoken throughout the Bible.

“The Mission is a weigh station for lost souls and God brings us here.” Kevin said while talking about how much his life and the lives of others have changed here.

Kevin works a full-time job, six days a week, and is saving money in order to pay off a few debts, then move into his own apartment. When he isn’t working he is spending time teaching his grandchildren about the unconditional love and joy found only in God’s truth! •
