There have been 19 rooms adopted by individuals, groups, and churches. Volunteers come in and provide comforters for the beds, pictures for the walls, shower curtains for the private bathrooms, and other home décor items that make a room more like home and less like an empty dorm room. Before the rooms where opened to the adoptees they went under a rehab process that included updating the bathrooms, patching and painting the walls, and hanging curtains.

The women have loved the look and feel of their new rooms and are thrilled to know that people in the community are supporting their journey out of homelessness in this way.

There are 10 rooms remaining to be adopted. If interested, please contact Bethany Woodcock at [email protected].•

We’ve been updating our women and children’s rooms here at the Mission, but only with the amazing help from the community.

Adopt-A-Room launched at the beginning of the year with the goal to improve the visual esthetics of the rooms here at the Mission. “We wanted to create a welcoming environment for women and children who are often in the midst of crisis,” said Bethany Woodcock, the Project Administrator here at Water Street who created the concept of adopting a room.
