SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY T IME

From the Pastor’s Desk ...

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

October is always a most wonderful month at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Along with being the month of the Holy Rosary, it is a month that is dedicated to LIFE. Please see the bulletin with information concerning the Annual Blessing of Pets, the Stand for Life, the Anoint-ing of the Sick, and our annual 40 Hours. Please be part of these wonderful events.

I want to ask you to keep working on inviting people to join the Church. Be like the early Church and reach out to others with the message of Jesus Christ. If there is someone you would like me to approach, please let me know. ([email protected])

There is a very nice piece in the Cleveland Jewish News about the sale of our school building. You can read it in full on line at: https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/yeshiva-derech-hatorah-to-buy-south-euclid-school/article_b4d12c3e-def4-11e9-a083-1bc70d68fc18.html.

Also remember I will be available to answer parishioner questions in the Church Hall after ALL Masses this weekend.

May God’s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland

Pre-Baptism Class

The annual drive supports our PTG, and it lasts until October 1; so keep an eye out for Eagle Entrepreneurs. Thursday the 26th of September was picture day for all of our Eagles PK-8; and we all definitely dressed to impress.

Fall has officially begun, and the school year is definitely in full swing as we began the second half of quarter number one. As always keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we will do the same for you.

Thank you for always helping the CCA Eagles SOAR to the top! Matt Tabar, Principal

SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY

Dear Friend of The Lyceum, In his biography of Chaucer, GK Chesterton writes: The medieval word for a Poet was a Maker, which indeed is the original meaning of a Poet. It is one of the points more numerous than some suppose, in which Greek and medieval simplicity nearly touch. There was never a man who was more of a Maker than Chaucer. He made a national language; he came very near to making a nation. ...It is not too much to say hat Chaucer made not only a new nation but a new world...And he did it in language that was hardly usable until he used it; and to the glory of a nation that hardly existed till he made it glorious.

On Friday evening, October 11, at 8:00 p.m. Dale Ahlquist will give the keynote address, "The True Pilgrim’s Progress: Chesterton and Chaucer." But you won't want to miss Kevin O'Brien's presentation at 7:00 p.m. as Hilaire Belloc, the Catholic historian who was the student of Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman. All are invited to the afterglow to be a part of the conversation with our guest speakers while enjoying the sounds of Duo Mignarda. Don't miss Cleveland's Catholic cultural event of the year!

Spiritual Growth Opportunities in October More details will be coming in next week’s bulletin

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: October 11-13 Annual 40 Hours Celebration. Solemn Closing after the 5 p.m. Mass on Sunday, October 13. Plan to spend an hour in adoration sometime during these 3 days and then come to the Solemn Closing on Sunday. Sign-up sheets for adoration will be posted by the Chapel next weekend.

Sunday, October 20: Annual Anointing of the Sick at ALL Masses. Please plan to come and join with the priests of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish as they call down the Holy Spirit to bless and heal those who are sick within our parish family. As usual the imparting of this Sacrament will take place during the Mass and those seeking to be anointed st are asked to come early to register and be seated where they are easily accessible to the priests.
