Dear Praying Friends and Partners,

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful,

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

Take it to the Lord in prayer. (Joseph Scriven)

Indeed we have a friend in Jesus and as we take these

things to Him in prayer, let us approach with confidence

as we have received grace so we also come by grace.

Come let us pray….

In Christ,

Shebel Solmia

Communications Staff

Southern Luzon Regional Unit "I thank my God every time I remember you...I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now..." Philippians 1:3 & 5" We praise and thank the Lord that despite our need for staffing, by the grace of God, the work among students in the 4 provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Mindoro continues. This cannot be possible without the love & commitment of our GTs, graduates, and student-leaders across the region. We truly thank the Lord for the gift of their partnership. We praise the Lord for students who came to know Christ through the witness of the local IVCF chapters in the campuses. Hearing their stories brings much joy and encouragement to the chapters and it is a source of strength as we co-labor with others in our young region.

We are praying for 2 more full time staff to help us in our vast and growing regional work. Please pray that those whom the Lord is calling to serve him in this capacity will respond with a "YES" and will not delay, regardless of the cost because the God who calls is faithful to provide for our needs. Pray for students and graduates who will commit to be our pioneer regional donors and that through this we may be able to establish our region's donor base. Pray for wisdom and unity as we work together in running the SLRU Leadership Camp this October. We are working in close partnership with IVCF graduates who run the Echo Adventure Camp. May the Lord's Spirit work powerfully in the hearts & minds of our emerging student-leaders.

Pray, too, for God’s guiding wisdom for the executive committee as they continue to plan and prepare for the camp. Pray also that the Lord will give us our subsidy needed amounting to P100,000. May our Jehovah Jireh pour out His blessings.

May the Lord grant them wisdom and strength as they minister to the students in the campuses and that God also provide for the needs of the staff in both ministry and personal needs.

Western Visayas Regional Unit Praise the Lord for His faithfulness and sustenance in the lives of graduates. Their continued support to the ministry enabled us to go the extra mile in the ministry. Alumni from 80s gathered together last August 9, at a dinner sponsored by MEANS. It was a time of fellowship, food and fun. We were blessed by the presence of Anne Benthien and Bethel Skinker (IVCF-WNU Alumni) who gave us an update about MEANS Ministry and also shared their stories.

Praise God for the student leaders and Graduate Team Members. We are also thankful for their passion and dedication in leading the campuses. Praise God for the commitment of the GTs in doing campus work and we are thankful for the life of Frel Shine Falcis (Roxas) new GT member. May the Good Lord continue to pour out blessings upon them as they work with the staff.

Praise God for the creativity and initiative of the students in expanding God’s ministry. At PNU-Cadiz they had a new project named “Bless the Utility Men”. They bought food for the maintenance and janitorial staff of their campus and after that they helped in cleaning the school premise. The Special Education Students’ Society of WVSU and IVCF collaborated in reaching an Indigenous People group in Panay. This project started when Annie Abogail, shared of her passion among the Aetas somewhere in Iloilo. Annie is a Special Education Student of WVSU and also an IVCF Student Leader.

We continue to thank the Lord for the RAC here in the region. They will be meeting this month. May the Lord give them wisdom and clear direction as we meet and work together for the advance of God’s kingdom in the student world here in CEV. Praise the Lord for the LCDC planning. Jay-r (the OA Director) recounts that the invitations have been sent and our speakers have confirmed. Please continue to pray for provision, permission & protection for all our LCDC participants. Pray, too, that we will be ready not just with our bodies but also with our hearts. We have at least 30 delegates who are sure of attending LCDC this year. Please pray for them as they raise funds, ask permission from their parents and submit all their requirements. Pray, too, that they may have the dates (19-26 October) free so they can attend the LCDC in full. Pray for favor and for abundant provision for them. Some of the counselors we have invited are not available. Many of them who declined are male counselors. Please help us pray that the Lord will call and raise up male student-leaders in this region and that the Lord will teach us how to disciple them. Pray, too, for the camp subsidy Php14,000.00 that we need to raise.

Praise God for giving success to our brethren in their respective board exams. Miss Joy M. Poral, former student-leader, a KC 2011 graduate and a GT member for Davao City, is now are Registered Nurse. Mr. Jether G. Yares, a former IVCF Staff and

one of the new elected RAC Members in IVCF-SMRU, ranked 8th place for the recent Guidance & Counselling Board Exam. Let’s rejoice even more for

Mercedita “Mercy” Coloma to be the first Physician among the Manobo tribe. Jether and Mercy are both KC 2000 graduates.

Hallelujah for the financial improvement in the region. We give God the glory for giving us a positive ending balance in

the General Fund amounting P15,017.89 as of September 4, 2012. In spite of the scarcity, we are able to pay our bills, continue our operations and send our Staffs to their regular

training. Prayer indeed moves mountains!

Please pray for the upcoming LCDC with the theme: “G+: Be on Guard! Grow in Grace for God’s Glory” based on 2 Peter 3:17-18. This will be held on October 22-29 at Mt. Carmel, Kinuskusan, Davao del Sur. Please pray that we can now find an expositor. All in our list have turned us down due to conflict of schedules. Pray also for ther speakers, exec and counselors as we labor together in the preparations. Please do pray for its subsidy amounting P35,209.40. Pray that many will take part of this cause. Needing around 8-10 sacks of rice, we are happy to receive any portion of this need.

A Ways and Means Committee headed by Ptr. Ruben Hernani, Jr. was created by RAC last month. Please pray for the group for God’s wisdom as we try to think, consider and explore more ideas to sustain the financial aspects of the region.

Please continue to pray that the LORD will continue to protect us from the enemy’s schemes. Student-leaders, GT’s, RAC members, and even the Staff-workers need your constant prayer support and encouragements as we are always under attack. Pray also for the GT members who will be taking their respective board examinations (LET – Gretchen Guillas, Cristita Porgatorio, Rowena Riño, Darie Lyn Pantelgone, April Joy Trance & April May Trance; CPA Board – Cristian Carren Peligro & Lorebel Echavez). May the LORD’s favor and wisdom be upon them!

Give thanks to the Lord for his faithfulness in our student ministry. This quarter shows that 1,120 students have already heard the gospel in which 86 of them are positively responding to it. It has also been reported that we have 84 Discussion Groups attended by 547 contacts, 38 Cell Groups participated by 234 members, 30 Prayer Meetings which was attended by 592 students. There were also 22 Large Group Meetings attended by 873 students. Some chapters in the area ceased to exist due to school administrative decision and lack of manpower. But it has been said that “when God closes the door, he really opens the windows” for the ISCF work in DRANHS, UM-Tagum-High School, and the long awaited renewal of permit from Davao City National High School -Main Campus. Indeed, He is on time!

Are we weak and heavy-laden Cumbered with a load of care

?Precious Savior, still our refuge— Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised Thou wilt all our burdens bear; May we ever, Lord, be bringing All to Thee in earnest prayer.

Soon in glory bright, unclouded, There will be no need for prayer— Rapture, praise, and endless worship Will be our sweet portion there.

(Joseph M. Scriven)
