“If I had to list one thing that binds together the fabric of society, it would be art. It is perhaps the ultimate measure of civilization and a way that diverse cultures speak – one to another. Communities are enriched by it, and city and suburbs alike need to promote its growth and development.”

ENTERTAIN

The Arts are first and foremost – entertainment! As a member of the community, you know the value of the Prairie Center for the Arts – the wide array of programs presented each season, from home grown to internationally known performing artists, from jazz and blues to rock and pop, from comedy to biography to family classics, the Prairie Center offers entertainment for all audiences.

EDUCATE

Arts and education go hand-in-hand. Investment in arts programs cultivates learning and creativity for everyone. Creative minds are problem solvers and innovators. A recent NEA study found that young people who have access to the Arts, particularly those at-risk, tend to achieve higher academic success, better workforce opportunities, and more civic engagement. Among the many benefits noted in a study by Stanford University and the Carnegie Foundation, students who participate in the Arts are more likely to join youth groups, participate in math and science fairs, perform community service, and hold a class office in their schools.

INSPIRE & ENRICH INDIVIDUALS

Individuals involved in the Arts benefit from increased self-esteem and a sense of belonging. Exposure to the Arts creates opportunities for self-expression, volunteerism and enjoyment. The Arts can heal, encourage, comfort, invigorate and refresh.

STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY

The arts build community identity and pride, and improve community image and status. Through the arts, we express who we are. We build bridges between diverse cultures. We unite. We create a common vehicle for communication and understanding.

Culture is an important part of the fabric that weaves a community together. A strong community is one where the culture is diverse and offers enrichment which enhances the quality of life.

In addition, the Prairie Center is an economic development engine, which drives consumers into nearby businesses such as restaurants, hotels and stores. It is the catalyst of an important multiplier effect, where success breeds success for our local businesses.

WHY DONATE TO THE PRAIRIE CENTER ARTS FOUNDATION?

“We support the Prairie Center for the Arts for many reasons, but the three most important are: the opportunities the Prairie Center’s programs provide in developing collaboration, teamwork and creativity in the region’s youth; the low-to-no cost ticketing programs which make the arts accessible to all; and the world-class performers regularly appearing at a reasonable cost in the Prairie Center’s conveniently located jewel of a performance space.”
