Challenges• Climate Change as a result of which farmers and area under

SRI target is reduced.• Climatic aberration caused pest attack e.g. leaf blast and Gal

midge • Promotion of hybrid seeds, Line sowing and chemical use

campaigning by Govt

Learning• Local seed varieties can be conserved • Farmers need training and input support for organic

practices.• State level pressure Group required for policy change.

Recommendations –suggestions

• The Govt. has introduced line sowing method this year which provides seed support (hybrid variety) to farmers along with package of chemical fertilizers and pesticides which has created confusion among farmers

• Threat to promotion of indigenous seeds and organic practices.

• SDTT partners can engage in Policy level dialogue with Govt. for promotion of SRI & organic practices.
