Note: Each section in this exam corresponds to one of the worksheets in the spreadsheet file. For
example, Fuel Estimatescorresponds to the Fuel Estimatesworksheet in the spreadsheet file.
Fuel Estimates:
Type your name into cell A22. Use the TODAYfunction to insert todays date into cell
A2. !enter and mer"e Fuel Estimatesacross cells A# throu"h $#. !han"e its font si%e to #&

Ad*ust column widths and use functions when necessary. Enter formulas to fill in cells accordin"
to the followin"(
Fuel &e'uire$ in cell +( The fuel re-uired is the "allons per hour consumed 'y theplanemultiplied 'y the num'er of flyin" hours. n this spreadsheet, each fli"ht uses a particular type of
plane. Each type of plane consumes fuel at different rates. The Fuel&e'uire$ formula should 'e
"eneral enou"h to compute its /alue re"ardless of the type of plane.
0ometimes a formula is more than *ust usin" a sin"le function. Also, it is useful to create the
formula on paper 'efore typin" it into the cell. Therefore, the first part of the formula uses the
()OO*+Pfunction to lookup the "allons per hour in the lookup ta'le of cells
A#&(!#1, 'ased on the type of plane "i/en in cell A. The ()OO*+Pfunction will return theappropriate "allons per hour from the
rdcolumn of the lookup ta'le.
Once you ha/e the ()OO*+Pfunction constructed, complete the formula 'y multiplyin" the
()OO*+Pfunction 'y the num'er of flyin" hours.
&esere Fuel in cell E( The fuel re-uired multiplied 'y the percent of flyin" fuel re-uired for
reser/es.
-ol$ing Fuel in cell F( The fuel re-uired multiplied 'y the percent of flyin" fuelre-uired for

.ost in cell $( The cost is the total fuel multiplied 'y the price per "allon. 3ut, theprice per
"allon depends on the amount of fuel re-uired, "i/en in cell +. /fthe fuel re-uired reaches orexceeds the threshold num'er of "allons, then the fli"hts cost -ualifies for the reduced price per
"allon4 otherwise, the fli"hts cost -ualifies for the normal price per "allon. The .ostformula
should 'e "eneral enou"h to compute its /alue usin" the appropriate price per "allon 'ased onthe fuel re-uired compared to the threshold num'er of "allons.
