Mexico triple-digit growth rates over the last 10 years, outpacing the growth of renewable power generation in most developed countries.

However, the real opportunity for renewables lies ahead, as the country will require an additional 22 Gigawatts of power generation in the next 10 years to reach the goal of generating 35 percent of total electricity from clean sources by 2025. Wind farm in La Ventosa,

Sawyer warned that the economic crisis in Brazil could cause a slowdown in its wind industry, which he called “one of the few bright spots” of its economy.

In recent years, Brazil has ranked among the top wind markets in the world.

According to Sawyer, wind energy is on its way to becoming the country’s number two power source within the next several years.

Brazil's wind farms have taken off and are likely to top 8GW by end 2016, but challenges remain.

The newly elected government in Argentina bodes well for wind energy, where plans are underway to increase the country’s renewable energy dependence from 1 percent to 8 percent by 2017.

Sawyer said he is hopeful for positive movement in the wind sector there, adding that Argentina has “arguably the best wind resource of any country in the world.”

With average wind speeds of 9 m/s the region of Patagonia has optimum conditions for wind power generation (image courtesy of Shutterstock).

Demand for technical staffThe Brazilian wind energy association ABEEÓLICA

(Associação Brasileira de Energia Eólica) assumes there is a need of 2,430 service technicians alone in Ceará for 661

MW that have been installed.

Each year we can expect a growth rate of 5,000 MW in Latin America . With a conservative calculation of 1

technician per 5 MW, in Latin America every year 1,000 new technicians are required.

Highly qualified technical staff Not only learning by doing is required. We need to

reduce accidents in the first instance. We also have to decrease maintenance times in order to reduce economic losses due to downtime

If a technician can avoid 1 day of downtime per year, the investment for his training has paid off

Highly qualified training Qualification in an adapted Vocational Training Course with 600

hours theory and 300 hours internship in specially selected companies or organizations

The best training needs experienced and highly qualified trainers through a certified Train the Trainer program who are specialized in vocational training by AHK Costa Rica

We will offer a standardized 1000 hour training program which is much more than the basic GWO course, which is only 40 hours of training

All curricula are harmonized between education institute and training operation and staff involved

Aquamark & Education Consultants

AMEC provides knowledge in almost all

topics of environmental technology,

energy efficiency and climate change, gathered around the globe. We want to promote specially adapted vocational training in Central America, especially in the field of water

(membrane technology) and wind power technology.

Our current challenge: The structure of this regional training center with our partners INVENIO University and BZEE as project developer

Globeleq MesoamericaEnergy

Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy (GME) is the leading wind energy provider in Central America and a major regional player in the wind energy sector.

GME’s plans will yield several hundred megawatts of clean energy, to satisfy the growing demand for electricity in the region while contributing to the environment and to local communities.

The company's strategy focuses on greenfield development opportunities, but will pursue the acquisition of operating and development projects as the opportunities present themselves. GME is our

prospective partner for internship and practical training
